Provided herein injectable implant compositions useful for acceleration of bone fracture healing, treatment of dental or oral pathologies, and controlled drug delivery.

Injectable implants

The present invention discloses liquid precursor compositions adapted for application on a hard surface in the oral cavity, comprising at least one therapeutic agent suitable for the treatment of oral disorders, at least one acidic-pH sensitive polymer, at least one hydrophobic polymer, and a pharmaceutically acceptable volatile carrier, wherein a weight ratio between said at least one hydrophobic polymer and said at least one acidic-pH sensitive polymer is larger than 1. The invention also discloses formulations formed of the solidification of these compositions, and methods for treating oral disorders by applying these compositions on hard surfaces in the oral cavity or to be placed in the oral cavity.

Liquid precursor compositions and uses thereof for a ph-dependant sustained release treatment of oral disorders

The present invention discloses a method of treating a head and neck cancer or preventing the development of pre-malignant lesions to this cancer, by administering locally to the oral cavity, a sustained release drug delivery system comprising a drug for the treatment of this cancer or for the prevention of said lesions, and at least one polymer, such that said system is attached to a surface in the oral cavity and remains attached thereto for at least 1 hour, accompanied by release of the drug and maintaining an effective therapeutic concentration thereof in the cavity, for at least 1 hour. Further are disclosed a sustained release drug delivery system and a liquid precursor varnish composition to this system.

Sustained release delivery systems for the prevention and treatment of head and neck cancers

Novel agents exhibiting anti-biofilm formation activity while being non-cytotoxic are provided, as well as methods of using the same, either per se or conjugated to a polymer, for preventing and/or reducing the formation of microbial biofilms and/or for disrupting microbial biofilms. The novel agents described herein include thiazolidine-2,4-diones (TZDs), pyrrolidine-2,5-diones (PYDs), imidazolidine-2,4-diones or oxazolidine-2,4-diones, substituted by an alkyl having 7-20 carbon atoms in its backbone chain.

Anti-biofilm agents

The present invention pertains to biodegradable sustained-release composins capable of achieving the sustained release of a pharmaceutical or other agent. The compositions can be formed into implant devices which may be used to treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions. The implants are especially useful in treating diseases such as periodontal disease which require prolonged drug release.
