Devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are directed to facilitating control of a graphical user interface associated with performing a medical procedure. Inputs can be received from a plurality of input devices interacting with respective sets of input options displayed on respective portions of the graphical user interface. One of the input devices can be operable by a physician, during a medical procedure, to navigate a set of input options to modify a graphical representation of at least one of a medical device and an anatomic structure displayed on the graphical user interface.

Ablation systems of the present disclosure facilitate the safe formation of wide and deep lesions. For example, ablation systems of the present disclosure can allow for the flow of irrigation fluid and blood through an expandable ablation electrode, resulting in efficient and effective cooling of the ablation electrode as the ablation electrode delivers energy at a treatment site of the patient. Additionally, or alternatively, ablation systems of the present disclosure can include a deformable ablation electrode and a plurality of sensors that, in cooperation, sense the deformation of the ablation electrode, to provide a robust indication of the extent and direction of contact between the ablation electrode and tissue at a treatment site.

Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed toward delivering pulsed radiofrequency (RF) energy to target tissue. The pulsations of the RF energy, combined with cooling at a surface of the target tissue, can advantageously promote local heat transfer in the target tissue to form lesions having dimensions larger than those that can be safely formed in tissue using non-pulsed RF energy under similar conditions.

In some embodiments, therapy annotations can correspond to a location of a tip section of a catheter relative to an anatomical structure of a patient when therapy is delivered to the anatomical structure. One or more properties of the therapy annotations can be based at least in part on signals received from sensors distributed about the tip section of the catheter and/or on other characteristics of therapy delivery. The therapy annotations can be displayed alone or in combination with a three-dimensional surface representation of the anatomical structure, a representation of the catheter, and/or other visual indicia, such as a therapy contour, a distance from a nearest therapy site and/or the most recent therapy site, and/or a representation of gaps between two therapy sites.

Systems and methods of automatically controlling, on a graphical user interface used by a physician, display views of an anatomic structure of a patient. Such systems and methods of automatically controlling display views of an anatomic structure of a patient can facilitate visualizing a position of a medical device relative to the anatomic structure during a medical procedure directed to the anatomic structure. In certain implementations, the systems and methods of the present disclosure provide automatic display views of a cardiac catheter relative to a three-dimensional model of a patient's heart cavity during a medical procedure such as cardiac ablation.

Devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure can overcome physical constraints associated with catheter introduction to facilitate the use of a catheter with a large distal portion as part of a medical procedure benefitting from such a large distal portion, such as, for example, cardiac ablation. More specifically, devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure can compress an expandable tip of a catheter from an expanded state to a compressed state along a tapered surface of an insertion sleeve for advancement of the expandable tip into vasculature of a patient. The tapered surface of the insertion sleeve can, for example, apply compressive forces at an angle against the advancing expandable tip. As compared to other approaches to the application of compressive force to an expandable tip, compressing the expandable tip using an angled force can reduce the likelihood of unintended deformation of the expandable tip.

Devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are directed to controlling distribution of electrical energy moving from an ablation electrode at a treatment site within a patient to a plurality of return electrodes on skin of the patient. Control over the distribution of electrical energy moving from the ablation electrode to the plurality of return electrodes can reduce or eliminate the need for manual intervention (e.g., repositioning the plurality of return electrodes on the skin of the patient, repositioning the patient, etc.) to achieve a suitable distribution of the electrical energy. Additionally, or alternatively, the devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure can respond rapidly and automatically to changes in distribution of the electrical energy to reduce the likelihood and magnitude of inadvertent changes in the distribution of electrical energy over the course of a medical procedure.

Devices, systems, and methods for balancing ablation energy

Systems and methods present multiple images of a three-dimensional model, including a three-dimensional representation of an anatomic structure and a representation of a medical device relative to the anatomic structure, on a graphical user interface. The multiple images correspond to different views (e.g., in multiple, different planes) of the three-dimensional model to provide complementary spatial information regarding a position of the medical device relative to the anatomic structure during a medical procedure performed on the anatomic structure. Such complementary spatial information can, for example, provide spatial context to facilitate controlling the position of the medical device relative to the anatomic structure during the medical procedure.

Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure include a catheter including one or more image sensors. The one or more image sensors can facilitate, for example, positioning an ablation electrode at a treatment site of an anatomic structure and, additionally or alternatively, can facilitate controlling delivery of therapeutic energy to a treatment site of an anatomic structure.

Devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are directed to selectively controlling delivery of electrical energy to an ablation electrode, with the selective control based on a history of the electrical energy delivered to a return electrode (e.g., electrical energy delivered in a current time-step and in one or more time-steps preceding the current time-step). Controlling electrical energy delivered to an ablation electrode based on the history of electrical energy delivered to a return electrode can reduce the likelihood of unintended tissue damage away from a treatment site as electrical energy is delivered to the treatment site via the ablation electrode. Further, or instead, the devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure can reduce the likelihood of unintended tissue damage away from the treatment site while reducing or eliminating the need to interrupt lesion formation by the ablation electrode.
