A method of analyzing film on a substrate comprises receiving surface profile data obtained from measurements of a substrate having a plurality of discrete regions with one or more film layers; extracting, based on a predetermined pattern of the discrete regions, a plurality of parameters from the received surface profile data, the plurality of parameters comprising one or more parameters of a film layer of each discrete regions, and displaying a user interface. The user interface may comprise a plurality of individual graphs each illustrating the one or more parameters of the one or more film layers for a corresponding subset of the plurality of discrete regions, and a composite graph illustrating the one or more parameters of the one or more film layers for each discrete region of the plurality of discrete regions, wherein the composite graph corresponds to the plurality of individual graphs being overlaid together.

Analysis of material layers on surfaces, and related systems and methods

A method of analyzing film on a substrate comprises receiving surface profile data obtained from measurements of a plurality of discrete regions on a substrate, the plurality of discrete regions comprising one or more film layers; extracting a plurality of parameters from the received surface profile data, the plurality of parameters comprising one or more parameters of the one or more film layers of each of the plurality of discrete regions, wherein the extracting is based on a predetermined pattern for the plurality of the discrete regions on the substrate; and displaying a user interface. The user interface may comprise a plurality of individual graphs each illustrating the one or more parameters of the one or more film layers for a corresponding subset of the plurality of discrete regions, and a composite graph illustrating the one or more parameters of the one or more film layers for each discrete region of the plurality of discrete regions, wherein the composite graph corresponds to the plurality of individual graphs being overlaid together.

A method of analyzing film on a substrate may comprise receiving three-dimensional data obtained from measurements of a plurality of pixels on a substrate, the plurality of pixels comprising one or more film layers; extracting a plurality of parameters based on the received three-dimensional data, the plurality of parameters comprising at least an average thickness for the film layers of the pixels, one or more area aperture ratios for the film layers of the pixels, and a pitch between pixels, wherein the extraction is based on a predetermined pattern for the pixels on the substrate; displaying a user interface comprising a graphical representation of one or more of the parameters for the one or more film layers of the one or more of the pixels; and dynamically modifying the graphical representation of the one or more parameters in response to user input of the displayed user interface, the dynamically modifying causing the displayed graphical images to appear as continuously changing.

Provided in one example herein is a liquid electrophotographic ink composition, comprising: a carrier fluid comprising a polymer; ink particles comprising pigment particles and a polymeric resin, the pigment particles comprising titanium dioxide and being distributed in the polymeric resin; and a charge director, wherein the ink particles have an average diameter of between about 10 &#x3bc;m and 50 &#x3bc;m; and the pigment particles are between about 10 wt % and about 50 wt % of the ink particles. Methods of making and using the ink composition are also provided.

Ink composition

A method of making a liquid electrophotographic (LEP) paste is disclosed herein. A base paste is made by forming a dispersion of a pigment and a non-polar carrier, adding a transparent resin dispersion to the pigment dispersion to form a dispersion mixture, and homogenizing the dispersion mixture. The transparent resin dispersion includes a polymer dispersed in a non-aqueous carrier. The homogenizing may be accomplished by agitating the dispersion mixture at a frequency of less than 1 kHz, thereby forming the paste.

Making a liquid electrophotographic (LEP) paste

Methods of encapsulating particles () in polymer () and compositions of matter using such encapsulated particles (). Methods include mixing particles () of one or more materials with one or more initial radical polymerizable monomers () and one or more initial charge-generating components () to form a first suspension of monomer-wetted particles (), mixing the first suspension with an aqueous dispersant medium () to form a second suspension, adding one or more initial reaction initiators to at least one of the first suspension and the second suspension, subjecting the second suspension to homogenization sufficient to form a stable submicron emulsion having an aqueous continuous phase (), and reacting available radical polymerizable monomers () of the emulsion to encapsulate the particles () in one or more layers of polymer () and to incorporate ionic species from available charge-generating components ().

Electrically chargeable encapsulated particles

A printing system (') includes at least one ejector coupled to a reservoir () that is configured to contain a printing composition including a hydrocarbon having at least one unsaturated bond. The hydrocarbon is configured to at least one of polymerize or crosslink in the presence of a reactive species. The at least one ejector is configured to eject the printing composition onto a surface (). The system (&#x2032;) further includes a corona generator (&#x2032;&#x2033;) configured to generate the reactive species in situ. The corona generator (&#x2032;&#x2033;) is positioned with respect to the reservoir () such that the reactive species is exposed to the printing composition after the printing composition has been ejected onto the surface (). The polymerizing and/or the cross-linking of the hydrocarbon is configured to form a polymer matrix () from the ejected printing composition.

Printing systems and methods of using such printing systems

A method for forming a system including polymer-encapsulated nanoparticles includes forming an inverse mini-emulsion including a continuous phase of a non-aqueous medium and a discontinuous phase of at least: a plurality of nanoparticles having a polar surface, and at least one of i) a polar, water-soluble, or water-miscible monomer, or ii) a polar, water-soluble, or water-miscible pre-polymer. The method further includes initiating polymerization of the at least one of the monomer or the prepolymer to form a polymer coating on each of the plurality of nanoparticles in the non-aqueous medium.

Polymer-encapsulated nanoparticle systems

A liquid electrophotographic ink is disclosed herein. One example of the liquid electrophotographic ink includes a non-polar carrier liquid; pigmented toner particles; a charge director; and polymer resin encapsulated metal oxide nanoparticles. A method for making the liquid electrophotographic ink is also disclosed herein.

Liquid electrophotographic ink and method for making the same

An ink set includes a first ink and a second ink, where each of the inks has a conductivity that is less than 200 pS/cm. The first ink includes a first pigment of a first color; a carrier fluid; and a concentration of a dispersant. The second ink includes a second pigment of a second color that is different from the first color; the same carrier fluid as the first ink; and substantially the same concentration of the dispersant as the first ink.

Ink set

An ink composition includes a particulate pigment, a hydrocarbon vehicle, an organic polyamine and an organic polyacid. A ratio by weight percent of the organic polyamine to the organic polyacid in the hydrocarbon vehicle is sufficient to render a conductivity of the ink composition to equal to or less than 15 nanosiemens per centimeter. The ink composition is prepared by combining the particulate pigment with a composition that includes the hydrocarbon vehicle, the organic polyamine and the organic polyacid. The combination is subjected to conditions under which the particulate pigment becomes dispersed in the composition.

Ink composition and method of preparing same

The present disclosure provides methods and composition directed towards a single batch latex ink-jet ink. In one embodiment, a method of manufacturing a single batch latex ink-jet ink can comprise emulsifying a pigment and a monomer in a solvent, and polymerizing the monomer with a reaction condition sufficient to encapsulate the pigment and sufficient to form individual latex particulates thereby forming a single batch latex ink-jet ink. The ink can contain less than about 0.5 wt % of latex particulates having a diameter of 50 nm or less, can contain about 1 wt % to about 10 wt % of latex particulates having a diameter of about 100 nm to about 250 nm and can contain about 3 wt % to about 5 wt % of encapsulated pigment.

Single batch latex ink compositions and methods

An apparatus for conducting single-pass filtration of ink waste is disclosed. The apparatus includes: a filter connected to a housing unit and a plurality of absorbent layers within the housing unit, wherein the plurality of absorbent layers are in any order and include: a layer for removing metal and polar compounds, a layer for removing non-polar color impurities, a layer for removing acid functional components, a layer for removing additives with polar or protic functional groups, and a layer for removing residual water. A process and a system that include or utilize the apparatus are also disclosed.
