A method of manufacturing a coating for an e-paper assembly includes forming a coating layer from conductive particles dispersed within an insulative matrix. A field is applied to cause the conductive particles to align in generally parallel, spaced apart elongate patterns that are generally perpendicular to a plane through which the coating layer extends. At ambient temperatures and without applied pressure, the coating layer is cured via radiation energy while maintaining the applied field.

Aligned particle coating

A charge-receiving layer for an e-paper assembly includes a plurality of conductive paths spaced apart throughout an insulative matrix, with each conductive path including at least one elongate pattern of conductive particles.

Aligned particle layer

A printer includes an image formation portion, a feed portion, and a transfer portion. The image formation portion transfers formed first and second patterned marking agent layers from a photoconductor member onto an intermediate transfer member. The feed portion directs a portion of a foil layer to become adhered, according to the pattern, onto the first marking agent layer on the intermediate transfer member before the second marking agent layer is transferred onto, and becomes adhered to, the foil portion. The transfer portion causes transfer of the foil portion from the intermediate transfer member, via transfer of at least the second marking agent layer from the intermediate transfer member, onto a substrate.

Pattern foil printing

In an example of a method for making polymer-encapsulated metallic ink pigment particles, a layer of a transparent resin dispersion is disposed on a flexible substrate. The resin dispersion layer is substantially dried, and a base resin layer is formed. A slurry is disposed onto the base resin layer. The slurry includes metallic pigment particles and polymer particles dispersed in a non-aqueous carrier. The slurry is dried to form a metallic pigment-polymer sheet. Another layer of the transparent resin dispersion is disposed on the metallic pigment-polymer sheet and is dried. A coating resin layer is formed. The metallic pigment-polymer sheet and the base and coating transparent resin layers form a tri-layer film having the metallic pigment particles encapsulated between the base and coating transparent resin layers.

Polymer-encapsulated metallic ink particles and metallic electrophotographic inks

A dispersed white ink contains TiO, wherein the TiOincludes particles contained in a thermoplastic polymer resin matrix and wherein the particles have a maximum interparticle distance of less than 1.0 &#x3bc;m and exhibit a statistical variance of less than 0.02. A process for manufacturing the dispersed white ink is also provided.

Dispersed white inks

The present disclosure provides for compositions, methods, and systems directed towards a liquid electrophotographic ink comprising a carrier fluid, a pigment, a first resin, and a stable cross-linkable resin that is solvated or swellable with the carrier fluid, where the stable cross-linkable resin does not undergo cross-linking until a temperature of at least 110&#xb0; C. and, once cross-linked, does not melt until a temperature of at least 300&#xb0; C.

Liquid electrophotographic inks

A method of making a liquid electrophotographic (LEP) paste is disclosed herein. A base paste is made by forming a dispersion of a pigment and a non-polar carrier, adding a transparent resin dispersion to the pigment dispersion to form a dispersion mixture, and homogenizing the dispersion mixture. The transparent resin dispersion includes a polymer dispersed in a non-aqueous carrier. The homogenizing may be accomplished by agitating the dispersion mixture at a frequency of less than 1 kHz, thereby forming the paste.

Making a liquid electrophotographic (LEP) paste

A method for making polymer-encapsulated metallic ink particles is disclosed herein. An ethylene-based polymeric resin powder is formed, and is mixed with a metallic pigment powder to form a powder mixture. The powder mixture is melted to form a metallic polymer melt. A non-polar carrier is added to the metallic polymer melt to form a slurry. The slurry is processed in a microfluidizer.

Techniques to determine concentration parameters of conductive liquid electrophoretic (LEP) inks are illustrated herein. In an example, a layer of conductive LEP ink is formed on a developer roller using electrostatic forces acting on the conductive LEP ink. A current is generated in response to a voltage between a measurement electrode and a developer roller. The current flows through the conductive LEP ink layer.

Techniques to determine concentration parameters of conductive liquid electrophoretic (LEP) inks

The present disclosure is drawn toward compositions, systems, and methods for printing of three-dimensional objects. In one embodiment, a liquid inkjettable material for 3-dimensional printing can comprise from 0.1 wt % to 10 wt % of a pigment, from 10 wt % to 90 wt % of a UV-curable polymer, and from 0.1 wt % to 70 wt % of a polymeric filler. Additionally, the liquid inkjettable material can be jettable from piezo electric inkjet printer nozzles and has acceptable decap performance measured by jetting a normal 50 picoliter ink drop within 10 electric firing pulses after the piezo electric inkjet printer nozzles have been fired and have been subsequently rested for 24 hours.

Liquid inkjettable materials for three-dimensional printing

A liquid electrophotographic ink is disclosed. The liquid electrophotographic ink includes a carrier liquid, a polymer resin, and a pearlescent pigment particle.
