An optical trigger for bows, crossbows and firearms preferably includes a trigger member, a light source and a light receiver. The trigger member is pivotally retained relative to at least one surface with a pivot rod. The trigger member preferably includes a pull area and an actuation area. An actuation hole is preferably formed above a pivot point. The actuation hole allows light to travel from the light source to the light receiver. The light source and the light receiver are retained relative to one of first and second sides of the trigger member. One end of a spring is engaged with an edge of the actuation area and the other end is retained relative to a support surface. It is preferable to have a light shield located on opposing sides of the trigger member. Each light shield surrounds the actuation hole and the light source or light receiver.

Optical trigger for bows, crossbows and firearms

An arrow insert with threaded stem for retaining an arrow tip preferably includes an arrow tip and an arrow insert. The arrow tip may be a broadhead. The arrow tip includes tip portion formed on one end and a threaded tap formed in an opposite end thereof. An O-ring counter bore is formed in the opposite end. The arrow insert preferably includes a barbed shank, an arrow shaft contact portion, an end flange, an arrow tip locator, at least one O-ring groove and a threaded stem. The barbed shank extends from one end of the arrow shaft contact portion. The end flange extends from an opposing end of the arrow shaft contact portion. The arrow tip locator extends from the end flange. The threaded stem extends from the arrow tip locator. The at least one O-ring groove is formed in the arrow tip locator.

Arrow insert with threaded stem for retaining an arrow tip

A crossbow with a built in cranking mechanism preferably includes a crank shaft, a one way bearing, a clutch, a reel shaft, a driven gear and at least one reel. The clutch preferably includes a clutch housing, a clutch pack and a pressure washer installed in a frame or stock of the crossbow. The clutch housing includes a clutch pack housing and a drive gear. The one way bearing and the clutch are retained on the crank shaft. A hand knob is threaded on to the crank shaft to exert pressure on the clutch pack. The driven gear is pressed on to the reel shaft. The at least one reel is retained on at least one end of the reel shaft. The hand knob is tightened against the clutch pack to frictionally engage the crank shaft with the drive gear. The drive gear rotates the at least one reel.

Crossbow with built in cranking mechanism

An arrow insert with threaded stem for retaining an arrow tip preferably includes an arrow tip and an arrow insert. The arrow tip includes tip portion formed on one end and a threaded tap formed in an opposite end thereof. An O-ring counter bore is formed in the opposite end. The arrow insert preferably includes a barbed shank, an arrow shaft contact portion, an end flange, an arrow tip locator, at least one O-ring groove and a threaded stem. The barbed shank extends from one end of the arrow shaft contact portion. The end flange extends from an opposing end of the arrow shaft contact portion. The arrow tip locator extends from the end flange. The threaded stem extends from the arrow tip locator. The at least one O-ring groove is formed in the arrow tip locator.

A three axis adjustable arrow rest preferably includes a front bracket, a bow mounting bracket, a pair of guide rods, a linear carriage, a lateral carriage and an arrow support frame. One end of the pair of guide rods are retained in the front bracket. The linear carriage is adjustably retained on the pair of guide rods. An opposing end of the pair of guide rods are retained by the bow mounting bracket. The lateral carriage is adjustable retained by the linear carriage. A vertical stem is adjustably retained in the lateral carriage. The arrow support frame is attached to a top of the vertical stem. The arrow support frame supports an arrow shaft. A bubble level may be included as an integral portion of a scope. A bubble level cap may be retained on end of the scope.

Scope with internal and external levels

A crossbow with built in cocking device includes a manual crank and a built-in, removable motor gearbox assembly and power source. Rotational forces applied to a drive shaft rotate in a first direction, causing first and second string carriages to engage a bow string, moving the bow string towards a string catch. Once the string catch is latched to the bow string, a drive shaft is rotated in a second direction to move first and second string carriages to the a rest position.

A cranking mechanism preferably includes a crank shaft, a one way bearing, a clutch, a reel shaft, a driven gear and at least one reel. The clutch preferably includes a clutch housing, a clutch pack and a pressure washer. The clutch housing includes a clutch pack housing and a drive gear. The one way bearing and the clutch are retained on the crank shaft. A hand knob is threaded on to a threaded end of the crank shaft to exert pressure on the clutch pack. The driven gear is pressed on to the reel shaft. The at least one reel is retained on at least one end of the reel shaft. The hand knob is tightened against the clutch pack to frictionally engage the crank shaft with the drive gear. The drive gear rotates the at least one reel.

Cranking mechanism

A three axis adjustable arrow rest preferably includes a front bracket, a bow mounting bracket, a pair of guide rods, a linear carriage, a lateral carriage and an arrow support frame. One end of the pair of guide rods are retained in the front bracket. The linear carriage is adjustably retained on the pair of guide rods by rotation of a linear adjustment screw. An opposing end of the pair of guide rods are retained by the bow mounting bracket. The lateral carriage is adjustable retained by the linear carriage with a lateral adjustment screw. A vertical stem is adjustably retained in the lateral carriage with a vertical adjustment screw. The arrow support frame is attached to a top of the vertical stem. The arrow support frame includes a plurality of arrow shaft adjustment screws for supporting an arrow shaft of an arrow.

Three axis adjustable arrow rest

An adjustable width bowstring sled preferably includes a first frame member, a second frame member, a first cross rod, a second cross rod, a thumb wheel, and two rollers. The first frame member includes a first rod base and a first line yoke. The second frame member includes a second rod base and a second line yoke. The thumb wheel is rotatably retained in the first rod base. An opposing end of the first cross rod is threadably retained in the second rod base. One end of the second cross rod is slidably retained in the second rod base. An opposing end of the second rod base is secured to the second rod base. The first roller is retained in the first line yoke. The second roller is retained in the second line yoke.

Adjustable width bowstring sled

Retention of a large diameter axle on an archery bow limb preferably includes a limb axle. A tubular limb axle may be attached to either twin limbs or a split limb. At least one spacer may be inserted into the tubular limb. An end of the twin or split limb may be modified to have the same shape as the at least one spacer. Attachment of the tubular limb axle and the at least one spacer to the twin or split limbs may be implemented with adhesive, glue, cement or any suitable bonding substance. The tubular limb axle and at least one spacer may also be attached to twin or split limbs with at least one fastener.

Retention of a large diameter axle on an archery bow limb

A crossbow with built in electric cocking preferably includes a motor, a drive device, a pair of carriage drive shafts and a pair of string carriages. The motor preferably includes a gearbox with an output shaft. The drive device includes a support frame and a drive shaft rotatably retained in the support frame. A drive gear is retained on one end of the drive shaft. An opposing end of the drive shaft is connected the output shaft. First and second carriage drive shafts each include a threaded drive shaft and a carriage drive gear retained on one end of the threaded drive shaft. The drive gear drives the carriage drive gear. First and second string carriages each include a string catch and a threaded tap. The threaded tap is sized to threadably receive the threaded drive shaft.

Crossbow with built in electric cocking

An adjustable stabilizer system preferably includes a bow mount member, a bow mount member with quick release, an elbow link member, an elbow link member with a quick release, a tightening elbow, a single thread coupler, a double threaded coupler and a weight with an o-ring. The bow mount member preferably includes a bow mounting base and a bow pivoting extension. The pivoting extension extends outward from one end of the mounting base. A threaded tap is formed in an opposing end of the mounting base. The elbow link member preferably includes an elbow mounting base and an elbow pivoting extension. The elbow pivoting extension extends outward from one end of the elbow mounting base and a threaded tap is formed in an opposing end of the elbow mounting base. The elements of the adjustable stabilizer system may be assembled in any suitable configuration.

Adjustable stabilizer system

A carbon fiber tube preferably includes first, second and third carbon fiber sheets. The first carbon fiber sheet includes a cross weave pattern of fibers, which cross each other at substantially 90 degrees. One axis of the fibers of the first carbon fiber sheet is aligned to form a lengthwise axis of the carbon fiber tube. The second carbon fiber sheet includes the same cross weave pattern as the first carbon fiber sheet. One axis of the fibers of the second carbon fiber sheet is turned 45 degrees relative to the lengthwise axis. The third carbon fiber sheet includes the same cross weave pattern as the first carbon fiber sheet. One axis of the fibers of the third carbon fiber sheet is aligned with the lengthwise axis of the carbon fiber tube. The first, second and third carbon fiber sheets are baked in an autoclave.

Carbon fiber tube with increased rigidity and decreased weight

A titanium string bumper preferably includes a bumper rod and a rubber bumper. The bumper rod includes a base portion, an offset portion and a bumper portion. The bumper rod preferably includes a round cross section. A thread may be formed on one end of the base portion and one end of the offset portion extends from an opposing end of the base portion. The offset portion forms an angle of between 60-165 degrees with the base portion. One end of the bumper portion extends from an opposing end of the offset portion. The rubber bumper includes an inwardly curved front to receive a bowstring and a rod bore, which is sized to receive the bumper portion. The bumper portion is pushed into the rod bore. The base portion is retained in a riser of an archery bow.

Titanium offset string bumper

A composite tube for an archery bow limb or arrow shaft preferably includes a first fiber sheet with fibers parallel and substantially perpendicular to a lengthwise axis of the composite tube; a second fiber sheet with fibers parallel to the lengthwise axis; a third fiber sheet with fibers oriented substantially 45 degrees from the lengthwise axis; and fourth fiber sheet with fibers parallel and substantially perpendicular to the lengthwise axis. The first fiber sheet is wrapped around a mandrill; the second carbon fiber sheet is wrapped around the first fiber sheet; the third fiber sheet is wrapped around the second fiber sheet; and the fourth fiber sheet is wrapped around the third fiber sheet. The mandrill with the first, second, third and fourth fiber sheets is baked in an autoclave. The spacing between fibers in the first, second, third and fourth carbon fiber sheets may be the same or different.
