The disclosure relates to 1-p-aminoalkoxy phenyl-1-p-hydroxyphenyl-2-phenylalk-1-ene derivatives, processes for their manufacture and pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The compounds possess anti-oestrogenic activity and are useful in the treatment of anovulatory infertility and the breast tumors. Representative of the compounds disclosed is 1-(p-.beta.-dimethylaminoethoxyphenyl)-trans-1-p-hydroxyphenyl-2-p-tolylbu t-1-ene.

Triphenylalkene derivatives, in particular 1-(p-.beta.-dimethylaminoethyoxyphenyl)-1,2-diphenylbut-1-ene, which possess utility as anti-oestrogens.

Alkene derivatives

The disclosure relates to the compound 1-(p-.beta.-dimethylaminoethoxyphenyl)-cis-1-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-phenylbut -1-ene, to pharmaceutical compositions containing it and to the use of the compound to produce an anti-oestrogenic effect in warm-blooded animals.

Pharmaceutical compositions

Prostanoic acid derivatives having luteolytic activity are provided. A representative compound is 16-(6-chloropyrid-2-yloxy)-9.alpha., 11.alpha., 15-trihydroxy-17, 18, 19, 20-tetranor-5-cis, 13-trans-prostadienoic acid.
