Disclosed herein is a washing machine. The washing machine includes a main body having a laundry inlet on the front portion, a tub provided inside the main body to store water, a drum rotatably installed inside the tub, a pulsator provided inside the drum and configured to be rotatable with respect to the drum, a first driving motor to provide power to the pulsator, and a second driving motor to provide power to the drum.

A washing machine of the present disclosure includes a cabinet having a first opening and a washing space disposed therein and a door assembly configured to open and close the first opening, wherein the door assembly includes a second opening configured to communicate with an inside of the cabinet and an auxiliary door disposed to be slidable and configured to open and close the second opening. In this way, laundry or detergent can be freely inserted even during a washing process.

Proposed are a washing machine and a control method therefor, which may allow a user to safely and additionally put laundry in during the operation of the washing machine including an auxiliary door. The washing machine includes an auxiliary door through which laundry is additionally put in, indicates whether additionally putting-in of laundry during the operation of the washing machine is allowed, and enables a user to determine the same, in order to provide an algorithm for safely operating the auxiliary door, and checks a rotation of a drum, a temperature of the inside, and a level of water when it is desired to additionally put laundry in, so as to enable the user to safely put the laundry in. Also, when the user additionally puts laundry in while the washing machine performs a cycle, the washing machine changes a cycle profile for each cycle, and corrects a cycle profile according to an additional put-in point, thereby raising reliability of the user for the washing machine.

The washing machine having a balancer to counterbalance unbalanced load produced during rotation of the drum seats a mass in a groove in the balancer before rotation of the drum possibly producing unbalance as in the spin-drying cycle begins, thereby efficiently maintaining balance of the drum. Accordingly, vibration in the drum may be reduced and product liability incident due to touch of the frame may be prevented.

Washing machine with balancer and control method thereof

A washing machine includes a cabinet, a drum rotatably arranged within the cabinet, an annular recess provided in the drum, and a balancer to offset an unbalanced load caused within the drum during rotation of the drum. The balancer includes a balancer housing mounted to the recess and has an annular channel therein, at least one mass movably disposed in the channel, and at least one ball disposed between the balancer housing and the mass to generate rolling motion.
