Provided is a redox flow battery including a positive electrode cell having a positive electrode and a catholyte solution; a negative electrode cell having a negative electrode and an anolyte solution; and an ion-exchange membrane disposed between the positive electrode cell and the negative electrode cell, wherein the catholyte solution and the anolyte solution each includes a non-aqueous solvent, a supporting electrolyte, and an electrolyte, and wherein the electrolyte includes a metal-ligand coordination compound, and at least one of the metal-ligand coordination compounds includes a ligand having an electron donating group.

Redox flow battery

A redox flow battery including a cathode cell having a cathode and a catholyte solution; an anode cell having an anode and an anolyte solution; and an ion exchange membrane disposed between the cathode cell and the anode cell, wherein the catholyte solution and the anolyte solution each include an electrolyte, wherein the electrolyte includes a plurality of metal-ligand coordination compounds, wherein at least one of the metal-ligand coordination compounds includes two or more different ligands, and wherein a dipole moment of the metal-ligand coordination compound is greater than 0.

An organic electrolyte solution for use in a redox flow battery and the redox flow battery including the organic electrolyte solution has a high energy density because re-precipitation is prevented in the organic electrolyte solution or eduction is prevented in an electrode during reduction of a metal ion used as an electrolyte.

Provided are a polymer electrolyte membrane and a fuel cell including the same. The polymer electrolyte membrane has a phosphoric acid that is substituted with an aliphatic hydrocarbon. The polymer electrolyte membrane has excellent ion conductivity, heat resistance, and liquid-holding properties. A polymer electrolyte membrane includes a cross-linking reaction product between a hydrophilic polymer and a cross-linking agent represented by Formula 1 below  wherein R1 is substituted or unsubstituted C1-C20 alkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted C6-C20 aryl group, or substituted or unsubstituted C2-C20 heteroaryl group; and n is an integer in the range of 1 to 5. The polymer electrolyte membrane may be prepared by preparing a composition for forming a polymer electrolyte membrane including the hydrophilic polymer, the cross-linking agent represented by Formula 1 and a solvent, applying the composition for forming a polymer electrolyte membrane to a supporting substrate; and heat treating the composition for forming the polymer electrolyte membrane to form the polymer electrolyte membrane. A fuel cell or other device includes the polymer electrolyte membrane. The polymer electrolyte membrane has low solubility to a strong acid and excellent ionic conductivity. Also, the polymer electrolyte membrane is suitable for high temperatures and has excellent durability obtained by reinforcing the mechanical strength of the electrolyte membrane. By employing such a polymer electrolyte membrane, a fuel cell having excellent efficiency, etc. can be prepared.

Polymer electrolyte membrane, method of preparing the same and fuel cell employing the same

A polymer electrolyte membrane includes a poly(benzoxazole) polymer doped with at least one acid. The polymer electrolyte membrane is manufactured by impregnating poly(benzoxazole) with an acid and has better ionic conductivity at high temperatures and better mechanical properties than a conventional poly(benzoxazole) polymer electrolyte membrane. In addition, the polymer electrolyte membrane has equivalent thermal stability to a conventional polymer electrolyte membrane.

Polymer electrolyte membrane and fuel cell using the same

An organic electrolytic solution and a lithium battery employing the same are provided. The organic electrolytic solution includes: a lithium salt; an organic solvent containing a high dielectric constant solvent and a low boiling point solvent; and a dicarboxylic acid derivative having at least one substituted silyl group. The organic electrolytic solution and the lithium battery employing the same have improved reductive decomposition stability, thereby decreasing an irreversible capacity after a first cycle and improving the charge/discharge efficiency and lifespan of the battery. The lithium battery has non-varying chemical properties at room temperature and a uniform thickness after standard charging, and thus has high reliability.
