A photovoltaic cell module, a photovoltaic array including at least two modules, and a method of forming the module are provided. The module includes a first outermost layer and a photovoltaic cell disposed on the first outermost layer. The module also includes a second outermost layer disposed on the photovoltaic cell and sandwiching the photovoltaic cell between the second outermost layer and the first outermost layer. The method of forming the module includes the steps of disposing the photovoltaic cell on the first outermost layer, disposing a silicone composition on the photovoltaic cell, and compressing the first outermost layer, the photovoltaic cell, and the second layer to form the photovoltaic cell module.

The present invention relates to a foam control composition and to its use in foaming systems. More particularly, this invention relates to a foam control composition comprising a polysiloxane and a resin-filler made from MQ resins having at least one polyoxyalkylene group. The compositions of this invention exhibit excellent defoam effects and antifoam persistency.

This invention relates to resin-fillers and compositions containing the resin-fillers. Resin-fillers are the reaction product of a resin having monofunctional siloxane (M) units and tetrafunctional siloxane (Q) units, chemically linked to a crosslinker by addition reaction. The resin-fillers have properties more similar to those of silica fillers and less like those of conventional MQ resins. The resin-fillers are insoluble in solvents, form homogeneous blends with silicone polymers, and dramatically impact modulus and viscosity of a polymer even at low (e.g. 5 to 10 wt %) loading.

What is disclosed herein relates to curable silicone compositions which provide high strength foams or elastomers. The high strength properties are better than the high strength properties of cured silicone compositions where only one non-resinous organopolysiloxane polymer type is employed. These compositions have the added benefit of being less expensive than resin based formulations.

Carboxyalkyl-substituted organopolysiloxanes are prepared by hydrolysis of a silalactone composition having the formula ##STR1## where n has an average value greater than zero, R and Q are hydrocarbon and X is Cl or Br. Silicon-containing compounds having the formula R.sub.a Z.sub.b SiO.sub.(4-a-b)/2, where Z is a hydrolyzable radical, can be cohydrolyzed therewith. The novel silalactone composition is prepared by gently heating a mixture of an ester having the formula X.sub.2 R SiQCO.sub.2 R' and a halide salt catalyst, such as tetrabutylammonium bromide.

The present invention relates to the use of crosslinkable silicone materials to coat botanic seeds, seedlings, meristematic tissue and plant embryos for their protection and to promote germination. The crosslinkable silicone materials are coated onto the seeds, seedlings, meristematic tissues or plant embryos and crosslinked to cure them. The silicone coatings of the present invention on the surface of the seeds, seedlings, meristematic tissues or plant embryos provide antifungal protection and can be used to carry entrapped plant adjuvants to the site of germination. The crosslinked silicone coatings are permeable to water vapor and oxygen and allow sunlight to pass through to the germinating seed.
