A work vehicle includes a frame and an axle assembly coupled to the frame. The axle assembly includes a first axle shaft and a first axle housing, with the first axle shaft disposed substantially within the first axle housing; a first wheel coupled to the first axle assembly; an axle lubricating fluid disposed within the first axle housing; and a first axle cooling device disposed within the first axle housing, in contact with at least a portion of the lubricating fluid, and including a first coil. Also disclosed is a method of cooling an axle assembly of a work vehicle. The method includes steps of removing heat from the lubricating fluid by placing the lubricating fluid in contact with the outer surface of a coil, and removing the heat from the inner surface of the coil by circulating the cooling fluid through the passage.

Method for cooling an axle

An articulated wheel loader provides a cushioned deceleration at the limits of its turning to the left and to the right by reducing fluid flow through a hydraulic steering cylinder as the articulated frames approach abutment. The throttled fluid flow causes a variable displacement pump to de-stroke, which further cushions the deceleration.

Apparatus and method for cooling an axle

The invention is an improvement in a control system having first, second and third sources of fluid at differing pressures. The improvement comprises a tripath pressure selector network connected to the first and second sources. A pressure-sensing device connects the network and the third source when the third source is at a predetermined minimum pressure. The invention has particular utility in mobile construction machinery having, e.g., steering, implement and brake hydraulic circuits, at differing pressures. In one embodiment, the third source is a brake hydraulic circuit. The improvement helps assure that adequate pilot pressure is available for a 'downstream' pilot control valve.

Control system with tri-pressure selector network

A hydraulic system for use in moving a bucket on an earth-working machine that includes a hydraulic cylinder and power piston with the piston being operably connected to the bucket. A change-over valve connects a source of pressure fluid and the reservoir to the opposite axial sides of the piston to move the piston in a selected direction and pivot the bucket either clockwise or counterclockwise. When the bucket is being moved in its clockwise position to dump the bucket, gravity assists its movement, and the bucket begins to actually move the power piston. When this happens, the piston may move so quickly that the hydraulic pump cannot supply adequate hydraulic fluid to the chamber in the cylinder. To supplement the hydraulic pump and ensure that the hydraulic chamber has sufficient fluid in it, a regeneration valve is disposed in a line returning fluid to the reservoir. When the change-over valve is in a position that will cause the bucket to be dumped, the regeneration valve is biased to a position that will restrict flow back to the reservoir and will cause a portion of the fluid being returned to the reservoir to be bypassed back into the line leading to the cylinder chamber that is powering the movement of the piston and bucket. By doing this, the regeneration valve supplements the hydraulic pump and will ensure that there is always sufficient fluid within the cylinder chamber.

Hydraulic implement regeneration system

A hydraulic system having a pump, a power steering valve, a loader control valve and a pressure compensating valve is used to supply fluid under pressure to one or more hydraulic actuators of an earthworking machine to prevent repositioning of those actuators due to hydraulic leakage or leak-down. The pressure compensating valve has two outlets. One outlet, the priority outlet, is joined to the power steering valve, the other outlet is joined to the loader control valve. The pressure compensating valve includes a load sensing line joined to the power steering valve. A hydraulic connection is provided between the priority output of the pressure compensating valve to those hydraulic actuators which are to be protected against leakdown. This connection includes a check valve to prevent reverse flow. Whenever the steering valve is actuated, the priority output from the pressure compensating valve is thus applied to those hydraulic actuators of interest. Thus, the driver of an earthworking machine on which the hydraulic system is installed is free to transport the machine over the open road without fear that one or more of its pivoted components will swing out of their transport position to some other undesired position due to leak-down.

A precision regulated plural voltage system having particular application for vechicular electrical systems requiring dual voltage applications. The output of a voltage doubler is precisely regulated as a function of the regulated output voltage from the alternator. This precise regulation of the doubler output is provided automatically without having to manually adjust the output as a function of load or temperature, is provided inexpensively by use of a relatively few number of solid state circuit components, and produces the desired regulated doubles voltage output having the precise value desired as a function of the loads connected to the circuit.

Vehicular plural voltage system

The self-actuating fluid holding system includes a fluid pump and two fluid valves and two fluid motors all fluid-flow connected together. The valves are arranged to sense the proportionate flow therethrough and to the two motors, and when the flow is out of proportion, such as when one of the connecting lines or a connection breaks to permit the fluid to leak, then the valves have shut off closures which protect the system against fluid leakage.

Self-actuating fluid holding system

A hydraulic system with dual pumps for tractor brake, steering, and loader valves wherein one of the pumps is connected directly with the tractor brake valve, and the system is arranged to have the hydraulic flow go from the brake valve to a pressure compensating valve which is connected with the steering valve, and the other pump is also connected with the pressure compensating valve and thus with the steering valve. As such, the output of both pumps can be directed to the steering valve and subsequently also to the loader valves which control the earth-handling bucket and clam and the like.

A hydraulic load-sensing system including a pump, a valve, a load-responsive actuator, and a hydraulic pressure unloading valve, all hydraulically connected together. The outlet of the pump is directed to both valves, and a sensing port and hydraulic line exist between the two valves for communicating the hydraulic load pressure to the unloading valve and thereby establishing the pump outlet pressure. A biasing member is included in the unloading valve, and therefore a constant hydraulic pressure drop is established across the valve supplying fluid to the load-responsive actuator, and a pressure relief valve limits the outlet pressure of the pump.

Hydraulic load-sensing system

A hydraulic system for a working machine of the vehicle type having a power steering mechanism and a hydraulically powered working implement, such as a back-hoe implement. A hydraulic valve is inclined in the power steering mechanism, and another hydraulic valve operates the powered implement. A flow control valve divides flow between the aforementioned two valves, and a pump supplies the flow in the system. Pressure relief valves are included in the system, such that one relief valve senses pressure in the power steering branch of the system, and that relief valve responds to the lowest hydraulic pressure, and a relief valve for the powered implement responds to a higher hydraulic pressure. Only a single hydraulic pump is required for the power steering and the powered implement.

Hydraulic system for a working machine

A fluid pressure system having a plurality of pumps, valves, and fluid-pressure responsive units. These items are interconnected by fluid lines, and check valves are arranged to control the fluid in only certain directions in some portions of the lines. The entire arrangement permits the utilization of one pump for a respective fluid-pressure responsive unit, or all of the pumps can be directed to one of the fluid-pressure responsive units.
