An apparatus captures radiographic images of an animal standing on the apparatus. A base portion supports the standing animal and a moveable x-ray source is mechanically attached to the base portion. A digital radiographic detector is also mechanically attached to the base portion, and the x-ray source and the detector are configured to capture a radiographic image or a scan of at least one of the legs of the animal.

An extra-oral dental imaging apparatus for obtaining an image from a patient has a radiation source and a digital imaging sensor that provides, for each of a number of image pixels, at least a first digital value according to a count of received photons that exceed at least a first energy threshold. A mount supports the radiation source and the digital imaging sensor on opposite sides of the patient's head. There can be a computer in signal communication with the digital imaging sensor for acquiring one or more two-dimensional images.

A CBCT imaging system comprises a digital radiation detector and radiation source. A detector transport moves the detector along at least a portion of a first curved path and a radiation source transport moves the radiation source along at least a portion of a second curved source path. The detector is configured to travel at least a portion of the first curved path, and the radiation source is configured to travel at least a portion of the second curved path. The detector is configured to obtain a plurality of 2D projection images over a range of scan angles for reconstructing a 3D volume image using the plurality 2D projection images.
