The present invention provides a catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region comprising support material particles; at least some of the support material particles are rhodium-supporting support material particles having rhodium supported thereon at a concentration of from 0.001 to 3.5 wt. %, based on the weight of the rhodium-supporting support material particle; and the rhodium is present at a loading of up to 20 g/ftrelative to the first catalytic region.

The catalyst article for treating exhaust gas comprising: a substrate comprising an inlet end and an outlet end with an axial length L; a first catalytic region comprising a first platinum group metal (PGM) component, wherein the first PGM component comprises Rh and Pt; a second catalytic region comprising a second PGM component, wherein the second PGM component comprises Pd; and wherein the first PGM component has a Pt to Rh ratio of at least 1:20.

A cold start catalyst is disclosed. The cold start catalyst is effective to adsorb NOand hydrocarbons (HC) at or below a low temperature and to covert and release the adsorbed NOand HC at temperatures above the low temperature. The cold start catalyst comprises a molecular sieve catalyst and a supported platinum group metal catalyst. The molecular sieve catalyst consists essentially of a noble metal and a molecular sieve. The supported platinum group metal catalyst comprises one or more platinum group metals and one or more inorganic oxide carriers. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the cold start catalyst, and a method for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine utilizing the cold start catalyst.

Exhaust gas catalysts are disclosed. One exhaust gas catalyst comprises a noble metal and a molecular sieve, and has an infrared spectrum having a characteristic absorption peak from 750 cmto 1050 cmin addition to the absorption peaks for the molecular sieve itself. The exhaust gas catalyst also comprises a noble metal and a molecular sieve, having greater than 5 percent of the noble metal amount located inside pores of the molecular sieve. The exhaust gas catalyst also comprises a first and second molecular sieve catalyst. The first molecular sieve catalyst comprises a first noble metal and a first molecular sieve, and the second molecular sieve catalyst comprises a second noble metal and a second molecular sieve. The first and second molecular sieves are different. The invention also includes exhaust systems comprising the exhaust gas catalysts, and a method for treating exhaust gas utilizing the exhaust gas catalysts.

Noble metal-molecular sieve catalysts

A passive NOadsorber is disclosed. The passive NOadsorber is effective to adsorb NOat or below a low temperature and release the adsorbed NOat temperatures above the low temperature. The passive NOadsorber comprises a noble metal and a small pore molecular sieve. The small pore molecular sieve has a maximum ring size of eight tetrahedral atoms. The invention also includes an exhaust system comprising the passive NOadsorber, and a method for treating exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine utilizing the passive NOadsorber.
