A method for indicating a combination between a codeword and a layer in a MIMO communication, system, a layer mapping method, and a data transmission method using the same are disclosed. A minimum number of codeword-layer mapping combinations from among all available combinations based on the' numbers of all codewords and all layers are pre-defined in consideration of a ratio of a codeword to a layer, a reception performance of a receiver, and reduction of combinations, so that a data transmission method using the predefined combinations is implemented. If a. specific one codeword is mapped to at least two layers, a diversity gain can be acquired.

Layer mapping method and data transmission method for MIMO system

The present invention provides for applying a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) to a data signal. The present invention includes attaching a first CRC to a first data signal block having a first length, segmenting the first data signal block attached with the first CRC into a plurality of second data signal blocks having a length shorter than the first length, respectively generating a second CRC for each second data signal block, and attaching the generated second CRC to the respective second data signal block. Moreover, the first CRC and second CRC may be generated from respectively different CRC generating polynomial equations.

According to one embodiment, a method of encoding a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is disclosed. The method includes: modulating the plurality of OFDM signals according to a modulation scheme, wherein the modulated OFDM signals are mapped to a first axis and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, and correspond to a first constellation having a plurality of points symmetric with respect to the first axis and the second axis; and differentially encoding the plurality of OFDM signals according to a second constellation plurality of points defined by shifting a position of one of the first constellation plurality of points toward an origin located at an intersection of the first axis and the second axis.

Method and system for reducing inter carrier interference for OFDM

Disclosed is a method of performing Pseudo-random-Noise (PN) quadrature covering for transmitting data via an access channel. Such method is achieved by receiving a 42-bit access long code mask MIand a 42-bit access long code mask MQfrom an upper layer; generating an MI mask and an MQ mask for PN quadrature covering by using certain bits of an assigned channel number for the access channel and by performing exclusive OR operations on certain bits of the received access long code mask MIand performing exclusive OR operations on certain bits of the received access long code mask MQ; and transmitting signals via the access channel based on the generated 12-bit MI mask and the generated 12-bit MQ mask.

A scheme of enhanced block coding based on small size block code is provided. Such is achieved by obtaining extended basis sequences for a (32, O) code with O=1, 2, . . . 12; selecting an offset starting value that produces maximum error correction capability in each O value; and generating basis sequences for a (48, O) code based on the obtained extended basis sequences for the (32, O) code with the offset starting value selected based on the selecting step. The offset starting value could be selected as 18, which results in the largest sum of distances.

Enhanced block coding method based on small size block code

A scheme of error decoupling for carrier aggregation techniques to support a communication system is provided. The communication system operates with up to 2 codewords for up to 5 carriers, each codeword of each carrier having one acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) or discontinuous transmission (DTX) to enable Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ) to operate in each carrier. The scheme involves the steps of: performing separation of bits related to ACK, NACK, DTX for each carrier using up to 2 codewords; determining a maximum number of bits related to ACK, NACK, DTX when decoupling is not performed after a maximum number of carriers are used; and grouping the carriers such that separation between ACK, NACK, DTX of each carrier is optimized as long as the maximum number of bits is not exceeded.

Error propagation protection in non-binary multiple ACK/NACKS

A method for generating a broadcast signal includes forming an information block for transmission, the information block including a first field comprising a plurality of bits configured to impart information to a first group of user equipment (UEs) regarding a first evolved NodeB (eNodeB) transmit antenna configuration. The method further includes generating error detection bits based upon the information block and scrambling the error detection bits using a mask according to a second eNodeB transmit antenna configuration, such that the mask is configured to impart information to a second group of UEs regarding the second eNodeB transmit antenna configuration. The method also includes generating the broadcast signal having the information block and the scrambled error detection bits, and transmitting the generated broadcast signal via a packet broadcast control channel.
