A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixels arranged in rows and columns, each pixel column extends in a first direction and each pixel row extends in a second direction crossing the first direction, a first data line extending in the first direction and configured to transfer a data voltage to pixels included in at least two pixel columns, and for each pixel row, a first gate line extending in the second direction and disposed at a first side of the pixel row, and a second gate line extending in the second direction and disposed at a second side of the pixel row, the first and second sides of the pixel row are opposite to each other. In a pair of adjacent pixel columns, pixels, which are connected to the first gate line of their respective pixel row, are arranged in a zigzag arrangement in the first direction.

A timing controller resetting circuit including: a resistor connected to an output node from which a reset signal is output and a first voltage source which supplies a first voltage; a capacitor connected to the output node and a second voltage source which supplies a second voltage that is lower than the first voltage; a reference voltage source configured to generate a reference voltage that is lower than the first voltage and higher than the second voltage; a comparator including a first input terminal which receives the first voltage, a second input terminal which receives the reference voltage, and an output terminal which outputs a comparison result signal generated by comparing the first voltage with the reference voltage; and a transistor including a first terminal which is connected to the output node, a second terminal which receives the second voltage, and a gate terminal which receives the comparison result signal.

Timing controller resetting circuit and a display device including the same

A display device includes a driving controller sensing a pattern of first image signals from a source external to the driving controller and outputting a compensation selection signal corresponding to the sensed pattern. A voltage generator generates a driving power voltage in response to the compensation selection signal. The voltage generator includes a power converter generating the driving power voltage in response to a power control signal, a comparator comparing the driving power voltage with a reference voltage to output a feedback signal to a first node, and a compensation circuit including a plurality of compensation units. A selected compensation unit is connected to the first node, and a power control circuit outputs the power control signal in response to the feedback signal. The slew rate of the feedback signal may be controlled by a compensation circuit to remove a ripple component from the driving power voltage.

Display device having a voltage generator

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a gate driver and a data driver. The display panel displays an image and includes first sub-pixels which display a first color, second sub-pixels which display a second color different from the first color, first gate lines to which only the first sub-pixels are connected, second gate lines to which only the second sub-pixels are connected, and data lines. The gate sequentially applies first gate signals only to the first gate lines during a first duration of a first frame, and sequentially applies second gate signals only to the second gate lines during a second duration of the first frame, where the second duration is subsequent to the first duration. The data driver outputs data voltages to the data lines based on input image data in synchronization with a driving sequence of the first and second gate lines.

A display device having a charging compensation circuit to reduce/eliminate display stains based on pixels being charged at unequal charging rates. A data driving circuit of a display device includes an output circuit for converting an image signal into a data signal in response to a clock signal, and providing the data signal to a plurality of data lines, and a clock generating and compensating circuit for receiving a main clock signal and generating the clock signal, wherein the clock generating and compensating circuit detects a slew rate of the data signal provided to at least one of the plurality of data lines, and adjusts a phase of the clock signal depending on the detected slew rate.

A method includes applying a common voltage to a display panel, digitally converting a feedback common voltage from the display panel, detecting an effective ripple signal exceeding a reference value based on the digitally converted feedback common voltage, comparing a total number of effective ripple signals detected during a first frame period with a threshold value, determining whether the effective ripple signals of the first frame period are crosstalk inducing signals based on a comparison result, and determining whether to change a polarity pattern of image data signals to be applied to the display panel during a second frame period based on a determination result in terms of the crosstalk inducing signal.

Liquid crystal display utilizing a timing controller for changing polarity arrangement and method of driving the same

A liquid crystal display includes a display panel, a timing controller, a gate driver, and a data driver. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels. The timing controller receives an image data, compares a previous line data with a present line data to determine whether the present line data needs to be compensated, and generates a first modulation line data. In addition, the timing controller calculates the first modulation data and a delay compensation value to generate a second modulation line data. The delay compensation value is decided from reference delay compensation values of reference pixels among the pixels.
