The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for generating one or more farm-level power curves for a wind farm that can be used to validate an upgrade provided to the wind farm. The method includes operating the wind farm in a first operational mode. Another step includes collecting turbine-level operational data from one or more of the wind turbines in the wind farm during the first operational mode. The method also includes aggregating the turbine-level operational data into a representative farm-level time-series. Another step includes analyzing the operational data collected during the first second operational mode. Thus, the method also includes generating one or more farm-level power curves for the first operational mode based on the analyzed operational data.

System and method for validating optimization of a wind farm

Methods for producing ultrasonic sound emissions from wind turbines, active systems for emitting ultrasonic sounds from wind turbines, and wind turbines are provided. In one embodiment, a method includes operating the wind turbine with an ultrasonic sound emitting device mounted on or within a component of the wind turbine, and receiving in a controller at least one indicator. The method further includes determining if an operating condition exists based on the at least one indicator, and supplying a fluid flow through an outlet of the ultrasonic sound emitting device such that an ultrasonic sound emission is produced by the ultrasonic sound emitting device if the operating condition exists.

Active systems and methods for producing ultrasonic sound emissions from wind turbines

The present subject matter relates to methods and systems for operating a wind turbine that, in some embodiments may include a gearbox. The wind turbine is provided with a blade having an adjustable pitch angle and the tip speed ratio (TSR) of the blade is monitored. In operation, the method and system is configured to increase the pitch angle of the blade concurrently with an increase in TSR to maintain turbine operation within an identified high power coefficient (Cp) operational region for the blade. TSR may be monitored by monitoring one of the velocity of the tip of the blade, wind speed, the rotational speed of the blade, or the rotational speed of a component within the gearbox.

A method of monitoring a rotor blade of a turbine engine that includes a plurality of blades mounted to a rotor shaft, comprising: a) securing a RFID tag that includes an antenna to at least one of the rotor blades; b) securing a RFID reader on a stationary surface on the turbine engine in operational proximity to the RFID tag; and c) during operation of the turbine engine, monitoring the RFID tag with the RFID reader.

Methods, systems and/or apparatus relating to turbine blade monitoring

Embodiments of the present invention may provide real-time monitoring of a compressor section to determine the possibility of a crack forming on a rotating blade. The present invention does not require the shutdown of the machine. The present invention may be configured to automatically raise an alarm if the acoustic signature of the compressor changes in way that may be consistent with the cracking of a blade.
