A light detection and ranging (LiDAR) apparatus capable of extracting speed information and distance information of objects in front thereof is provided. The LiDAR apparatus includes: a continuous wave light source configured to generate continuous wave light; a beam steering device configured to emit the continuous wave light to an object for a first time and stop emitting the continuous wave light to the object for a second time; a receiver configured to receive the continuous wave light that is reflected from the object to form a reception signal; and a signal processor configured to obtain distance information and speed information about the object based on the reception signal.

LiDAR apparatus using interrupted continuous wave light

A light detection and ranging (LIDAR) device includes: a photodiode configured to generate a current in response to an optical signal being input to the photodiode; a current-voltage conversion circuit configured to convert the current into a voltage; an N-type ring voltage controlled oscillator (RVCO) configured to output a first pulse signal when the voltage is input to the N-type RVCO; a P-type RVCO configured to output a second pulse signal when the voltage is input to the P-type RVCO; and a processor configured to estimate an intensity of the optical signal by identifying, based on the first pulse signal and the second pulse signal, a digital signal value corresponding to the voltage.

Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems and methods of operating the LiDAR systems are provided. The LiDAR system includes a light emitter configured to emit first lights of different wavelengths in a vertical direction and at different scanning angles with respect to a horizontal axis, a lens configured to converge second lights that are reflected from objects on which the first lights are emitted, and a light filter comprising an active-type device configured to adjust a transmission central wavelength of the active-type device to the different wavelengths of the first lights that are emitted from the light emitter. The LiDAR system further includes a controller configured to control an operation of the light emitter and the light filter, and a detector configured to detect light from the light emitter, and obtain information about the objects.
