The present embodiments relate to a steering control device and method and may provide a steering control device and method capable of compensating for the effect on the increased friction level of the road wheel actuator (RWA) mechanism at a low temperature in a steer by wire (SBW) system. In particular, there may be provided a steering control device and method capable for compensating for heavy steering that the driver may feel at low temperature by determining a friction level at a low temperature while driving according to a preset compensation condition and compensating for rack force information with respect to the friction level.

The steering control method and steering control device may reduce memory usage by calculating virtual end stop torque without using a lookup table and address the noise issue at a discontinuous point. Further, it is possible to determine whether the end stop start angle needs to be adjusted because the wheel touches the curb, and adjust the end stop start angle to protect the steering wheel and the system.

The present invention relates to steering apparatuses, and more specifically, to torque estimation apparatuses, and steering assist apparatuses and methods. The torque estimation apparatus can include a first estimator for estimating an eccentric mass of a steering wheel, and a second estimator for estimating an eccentric torque of the steering wheel.

Torque estimation apparatus and steering assist apparatus and method

A steer-by-wire system and a control method thereof. A reaction motor generates a reaction in a direction opposite to a direction in which a steering wheel is manipulated by a driver. A current sensor senses a phase current output by the reaction motor. A motor position sensor senses an angle of rotation of the reaction motor. A state and disturbance observer estimates a plurality of state variables and a driver torque by receiving information regarding the phase current and information regarding the angle of rotation of the reaction motor. A reaction controller determines a reaction torque output by the reaction motor, in accordance with the plurality of state variables and the driver torque estimated by the state and disturbance observer. A steering intention of a driver is accurately determined when the torque sensor or the steering angle sensor is not provided or malfunctions.

Steer-by-wire system and control method thereof

The present disclosure relates to a Steer-By-Wire system including: a torque sensor configured to sense torsion bar torque generated when the driver operates the steering wheel; a steering angle sensor configured to sense a steering angle of the steering wheel; a reaction motor configured to provide reaction force in a direction opposite an operating direction of the steering wheel; a state variable estimator configured to receive information on the torsion bar torque and the steering angle and configured to estimate a plurality of state variables from which disturbances have been removed; and a reaction controller configured to determine a reaction torque to be output from the reaction motor using the plurality of state variables estimated by the state variable estimator, and further relates to a control method thereof. Accordingly, it is possible to accurately recognize the driver's steering intention.
