A laundry treating machine includes a case, a tub, a drum, a drain pump housing, and a drain pump motor, wherein a plurality of fastening protrusions that are formed at one of the drain pump housing and the drain pump motor are inserted into a plurality of fastening grooves that are formed at the other of the drain pump housing and the drain pump motor, and wherein a length of one fastening protrusion is formed to be different from lengths of the other fastening protrusion such that the drain pump housing and the drain pump motor is prevented from being assembled wrongly.

The present disclosure relates to a drain pump for a laundry treating apparatus, including a housing configured to accommodate water; a water flow portion provided with an impeller forming a flow of water or wash water, and formed on an inner circumferential surface of the housing to circulate the accommodated water or wash water to a tub or drain the accommodated water or wash water out of a washing machine; a drain pump chamber formed on an inner circumferential surface of the housing to receive or store the water or wash water before the water or wash water flows into the water flow portion; and an inlet port formed to protrude toward the water flow portion between the water flow portion and the drain pump chamber.

A drain pump for a laundry treating apparatus includes a housing, an impeller, a motor, a circulation outlet, and a drain outlet. The circulation outlet and the drain outlet are defined on an outer circumferential surface of the housing, enable communication of the washing water with the housing, and protrude outward in directions tangential to the outer circumferential surface. The housing includes a rib that protrudes from an inner circumferential surface of the housing, that is located between the circulation outlet and the drain outlet, and that is configured to guide the washing water to the circulation outlet or to the drain outlet based on a direction of rotation of the impeller.
