A system and method for authentication of a communication device is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a communication device having a controller element to compute a shared secret key based at least in part on a communication device private key and a cryptography algorithm, where the communication device private key is stored in an identity module of the communication device and is unknown to an authentication center, and wherein the communication device is authenticated by the authentication center based at least in part on the shared secret key. System and method for authentication of a communication device

Disclosed is a system and method of managing video content quality. The method includes receiving performance data at a video quality prediction system where the performance data is related to a plurality of network elements of a network path linking a video-head end with a set-top box device. The method also includes predicting, based at least partially on the performance data, a quality of video content received at the set-top box device and determining whether the predicted quality of video content is greater than or equal to a video quality threshold. In addition, the method includes identifying at least one of the plurality of network elements not satisfying a performance requirement, based on the performance data, when the predicted quality of video content is less than the video quality threshold. Further, the method includes outputting data indicating the at least one network element not satisfying the performance requirement.

System and method of managing video content quality

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a mobile voice over internet protocol communication device, comprising a controller operable to register with a voice over internet protocol call processing system by way of a wireless fidelity access point operating in a cluster of wireless fidelity access points, and re-register with the voice over Internet Protocol call processing system by way of the wireless fidelity access point in response to receiving a re-registration request upon expiration of a timer having a period determined from attributes of the cluster by the mobile voice over Internet Protocol communication device. A system and method for authentication of a communication device is disclosed. Method and apparatus for end-to-end mobile user security

A system for collecting data from a communications network includes customer premises equipment ('CPE') for monitoring and storing response data. A CPE data collection module uses a Web-based service to collect information from the CPE and process the information to determine line quality and any errors that may exist on either the WAN side or the LAN side of the communications network, and further determine the root cause based on built-in business rules for trouble shooting customer service. The CPE conducts per-tone diagnostics on the WAN side of the communications network and obtains WAN side data. The CPE obtains response data from devices on the LAN side. Both WAN side data and LAN data may be transmitted substantially in real-time or stored and transmitted periodically to the CPE data collection module upon requests originated from the CPE data collection module.

Network monitoring by customer premises equipment

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a mobile Voice over IP (VoIP) communication device (MVCD) having a controller element to register with a VoIP call processing system by way of a Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) access point operating in a cluster of WiFi access points each having cell coverage area, and re-register with the VoIP call processing system by way of the WiFi access point in response to receiving a re-registration request upon expiration of a timer having a period determined from one or more behavioral attributes of the MVCD.
