A control method for a fuel cell system that includes a solid oxide fuel cell configured to generate power upon receipt of supply of an anode gas and a cathode gas includes an anode protection execution determination process of performing execution determination of an anode protection process of applying a predetermined protection current to the fuel cell in order to restrain catalyst oxidation in an anode of the fuel cell. In the anode protection execution determination process, an internal impedance of the fuel cell at an anode response frequency at which an anode reaction resistance of the fuel cell is detectable is acquired, and based on the internal impedance at the anode response frequency, whether the anode protection process is to be executed or not is determined.

Control method for fuel cell system, and fuel cell system

A fuel cell system includes: a power generation stack () composed by stacking a plurality of fuel cells (); and a hydrocarbon-oxidizing device () disposed on an upstream side of the power generation stack () in a fuel supply passage (). The hydrocarbon-oxidizing device () directly and electrochemically oxidizes hydrocarbons with a carbon number of 2 or more, which are contained in fuel gas, or decomposes the hydrocarbons and electrochemically oxidizes carbon obtained by decomposing the hydrocarbons.

Fuel cell system and control method thereof

Disclosed is a fuel cell system comprising a reformer and a fuel cell body to which a fuel gas reformed through the reformer and air are supplied and in which the supplied fuel gas and air are separated from each other and caused to flow and contact on respective electrodes to perform electric power generation. A moisture quantity adjustment device is configured to adjustably separate a portion of moisture included in the fuel gas supplied from the reformer in order for the moisture included in the fuel gas to be supplied to the fuel cell body in an appropriate quantity.

Fuel cell system

An electric power generating apparatus is provided with a fuel gas supply, an air supply source, an external reformer having a reformer section supplied with the fuel gas, a fuel cell stack, a heat exchanger section disposed to the external reformer, and an exhaust gas combusting section. The fuel cell stack has an electric power generating cell section, which is supplied with the fuel gas that results from the reformer section. The heat exchanger section achieves heat exchange between the air and the reformer section. The exhaust gas combusting section permits unburned fuel gas, which is supplied from the electric power generating cell section, and the air to be mixed and combusted to achieve heat exchange with respect to the fuel cell stack.

Electric power generating apparatus and related method

A fuel cell of the present invention includes a fuel cell stack () for being formed by stacking a plurality of cell plates () having a flat shape, the cell plates () being configured by arranging a plurality of cells, the cell having an electrolyte layer (), a fuel electrode layer () and an air electrode layer (). A combustion heater plate () includes a porous combustion plate () and a gas non-pass layer () covering a surface of the porous combustion plate (). The combustion heater plate () is disposed between the cell plates ().

A unit cell for a solid electrolyte type fuel cell is provided with a fuel electrode, an air electrode making a pair with the fuel electrode, a solid electrolyte interposed between the fuel electrode and the air electrode, a porous metallic base body disposed on at lease one of a surface of the fuel electrode on the far side from the solid electrolyte and a surface of the air electrode on the far side from the solid electrolyte such that the fuel electrode, the electrolyte, and a plurality of concave portions formed in the porous metallic base body so as to extend, in a laminating direction in which the fuel electrode, the electrolyte, the air electrode and the porous metallic base body are laminated, from a surface of the porous metallic base body.
