Halite scales in an oilfield brine that has a potential for halite scaling can have halite scale formation inhibited or prevented by adding an effective amount of an additive, where the additive contains at least one non-water-soluble quaternary ammonium compound and at least one organic solvent. The quaternary ammonium compound may be benzyl-alkyldimethyl ammonium chloride, where the alkyl group has from 2 to 30 carbon atoms. The organic solvent may be one or more alcohol or glycol.

Method to mitigate halite scale

Methods and compositions for treating subterranean formations with fluids containing superabsorbent polymer particles are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise introducing a treatment fluid into a well bore penetrating at least a portion of a subterranean formation, the treatment fluid including an aqueous base fluid, and one or more superabsorbent polymer particles comprising a plurality of monomers and one or more crosslinkers wherein at least one crosslinker is a labile crosslinker.

Treatment fluids and associated methods for treating a subterranean formation. An example method includes introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation. The treatment fluid includes a competitive metal binder selected from the group consisting of polyamino polyether methylene phosphonic acid, hydoxyethylamino-di(methylene phosphonic acid), and a combination thereof; a polymer capable of forming a polymer-metal complex; and an aqueous fluid. Methods for treating a subterranean formation. An example method includes introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation. The treatment fluid includes an aqueous base fluid, a cationic or amphoteric friction reducer, and a substituted alkanolamine scale inhibitor. The method further includes contacting scale deposits on a surface in fluid communication with the wellbore and/or subterranean formation with the treatment fluid.

Described herein are methods for controlling or limiting the deposition of inorganic sulfide scale in wellbore operations. In some cases, method can include introducing a treatment fluid including a cationic polymeric quaternary amine or a polyethyleneimine polymer into a treatment area of a wellbore having metal cations, such as iron, zinc, and/or lead cations, and sulfide anions and contacting the metal cations and sulfide anions with the treatment fluid to reduce or prevent formation of metal sulfide particles in the treatment area. The polymers can include poly(methacrylamido-4,4,8,8-tetramethyl-4,8-diaza-6-hydroxylnonamethylene dichloride), poly(vinylbenzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride), polydimethyldiallyl ammonium chloride, or quaternized ammonium salt polyethyleneimine.

Controlling metal sulfide scale in drilling operations

A method of treating a multi-zoned subterranean formation with composites having well treatment agents is disclosed. The well treatment agent treated in each zone is distinguishable. At least a portion of the well treatment agent is released from one of the composites into the well or formation. The formation of undesirable contaminants may be inhibited or prevented in the well or in the formation by the release of the well treatment agent from one or more of the composites. The well treatment agent also serves as a tracer. When fluid transported from the formation or well is collected, the source of the transported fluid may be determined by comparing a chemical or physical parameter of the well treatment agent with a working set of known taggants.

A shaped compressed pellet formed from a composite of a well treatment agent adsorbed onto a calcined porous metal oxide or into the interstitial spaces of the calcined porous metal oxide may be introduced into an oil or gas producing well. The well treatment agent of the shaped compressed pellet may be used to prevent and/or control the formation of deposits in the well.

A wellbore cement composition includes substantially unhydrated cement powder and additive powder for cement. The additive powder is formulated from ingredients including a liquid additive for cement and solid carrier particles. The liquid additive is absorbed by the solid carrier particles. The well treatment agent can be a scale inhibitor, tracer, pH buffering agent, or a combination thereof.

Shaped particulates which have been compressed from a composite of a well treatment agent and adsorbent in a matrix may be introduced into horizontal or deviated oil or gas wells.
