A method and system is disclosed that allows a user to easily and intuitively operate applications that require contact information, in a touch device, via a tray item associated with the contact information. The method for operating applications includes: displaying a contact tray comprised of a number of tray items based on contact information, on an execution screen; receiving an interaction to use a tray item in the contact tray; configuring an execution screen for an application based on contact information of the tray item; and operating the application based on the configured execution screen.

Method and system for operating application of a touch device with touch-based input interface

Provided is a method of controlling a pointer, such as changing between a pointer mode for activating the pointer and a search key mode for deactivating the pointer, in a mobile terminal having a pointing device. The method of controlling a pointer includes detecting movement input by the pointing device; identifying whether the detected movement satisfies a condition of changing a display mode; if the detected movement satisfies a condition of changing a display mode, displaying the pointer by changing the current display mode to a pointer mode; identifying whether a specific key is input; and if the specific key is input, hiding the pointer by changing the current display mode to a search key mode. Additionally, if elapsed time measured after displaying the pointer exceeds a predetermined value, the display mode of the mobile terminal may automatically be changed to a search key mode.

Method of controlling pointer in mobile terminal having pointing device

The optical sensor according to an embodiment disclosed herein includes: a lighting unit; a color photographing element for obtaining a color image in the sensing region; a photographing control unit for controlling a light irradiating time; a memory unit for storing a color image and a resultant image; a measurement light image extracting unit for processing the color image or the resultant image; a distance calculating unit for calculating distance or location information of the object; and a color correcting unit for calculating corrected distance or location information of the object.

Disclosed herein is a vibrotactile device intuitively providing information by inducing a tactile sense to a user, and a method using the same. The device according to an embodiment includes a vibrating contact panel contacting with a user's hand; a plurality of vibratory modules that are attached to the lower part of the vibrating contact panel and vibrate with different intensities according to the amount of supplied power; and a plurality of vibration isolating links that are coupled, respectively, to an end of each of the modules to support the modules and to isolate the vibration from the modules.

This disclosure relates to a vibrotactile mobile device which induces a tactile sense at various positions in an interface method of operating the mobile device so that a user may intuitively interact with the mobile device while seeing a program execution status, and to a method of driving the vibrotactile mobile device. The method of driving the vibrotactile mobile device includes: providing a user interface for inputting a command signal on a screen operated in accordance with a program; calculating a target vibration position and a direction and a speed of a vibration flow with time so as to recognize a trajectory of the command signal displayed on the screen and supply a vibration stimulus corresponding to the trajectory of the command signal; and driving the vibration module by controlling a supply of power to be applied to vibration modules based on the calculated result.

Apparatus and method for vibrotactile mobile device

A portable terminal and a user interface control method thereof are provided. In the terminal and method, patterns of a subject image captured by a camera are recognized and analyzed. First and second images changed according to motion (movement, holding away from or drawing close to a user) of the portable terminal are captured by the camera module. Patterns of the first and second images are recognized. The motion of the portable terminal is analyzed based on the recognized patterns. Control commands corresponding to the analyzed motion are selected. A function corresponding to the selected control command is performed. The portable terminal can be intuitively and simply used as its motion is directly applied to user interface control. User interface can be controlled without an additional part, using a camera installed to the portable terminal. Also, the present invention can resolve the problems caused when the conventional navigation key is operated.

The apparatus is applicable for various medical fields such as the measurement of the location and orientation of an external apparatus, the measurement of relative locations of a medical instrument contacted to an end-portion of a cancer and the object body, and the fixation of the instrument at a desired location.
