Disclosed is a code tracking apparatus and method under a multi-path environment in a DS-CDMA communication system. Through the steps of calculating fast path energy on a first path signal by removing an interference signal component from the first path signal, the first path signal being faster than an allocated multi-path signal, calculating slow path energy on a second path signal by removing an interference signal component from the second path signal, the second path signal being slower than the allocated multi-path signal, obtaining information regarding timing of the allocated multi-path signal by using the fast path energy and the slow path energy, and receiving the allocated multi-path signal based on the obtained timing information, it is possible to prevent an occurrence of a fat finger phenomenon in which fingers de-modulating multi-path signals having mutually different time delays track the same path, so that it is possible to obtain a time diversity effect, thereby enhancing the reception of a rake receiver.

Code tracking apparatus and method under a multi-path environment in a DS-CDMA communication system

A cell search apparatus and method in a mobile communication system. After a UE acquires slot boundary timing and frame boundary timing to a Node B, it acquires its scrambling code number and scrambling code timing. After the initial cell search, the UE performs multi-path search by searching a first area with respect to the scrambling code timing. During reacquisition in a sleep state, the UE searches a second area wider than the first area with respect to a scrambling code timing acquired before the sleep state. The UE performs neighbor cell search by selectively using the initial cell search and the multi-path search according to whether the Node B provides information or what information it provides.

Cell search apparatus and method in a mobile communication system

An apparatus and method of receiving multi-path signals in a direct sequence Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile communication system is disclosed. Timing control signals from respective fingers are collected, and relations among positions of time delays where the respective fingers intend to perform a demodulation are analyzed. If it is determined that the time delay position for a specified finger approaches the time delay position of the finger allocated with an adjacent multi-path as close as a threshold value, the distance between the time delay positions is compulsorily kept as the threshold value. This can be effected by making the timing control signal of the finger allocated with the adjacent multi-path be equally used in the specified finger.

The cell search apparatus and method performs a first cell search step, a second cell search step, and a third cell search step using a slot count value and a lower count value, counted by an index counter after being initialized upon power up of a UE (User Equipment), thereby determining a scrambling code for a Node B. Further, the cell search apparatus and method manages neighboring Node Bs by performing a multipath search.
