The present application relates to a battery charging method and charging system which can prevent degradation of a battery and enhance the lifetime characteristics thereof. In one aspect, the charging method includes charging a battery at a first C-rate higher than a reference C-rate, wherein the C-rate represents charge or discharge current/a rated capacity of the battery. The charging method also includes charging the battery at a second C-rate lower than the reference C-rate. The charging of the battery at the first C-rate includes at least one rest period for temporarily stopping the charging of the battery.

A method for controlling a peripheral system (or a plurality of peripheral devices) and a fuel cell system using the same. The method includes: allocating an operation priority to the peripheral devices; storing information of the operation priority; and sequentially operating the peripheral devices by using electric energy stored in a small capacity electricity storage device according to the operation priority. The fuel cell system includes: the plurality of peripheral devices; an electricity storage device electrically connected with the peripheral devices; and a controller for sequentially operating the peripheral devices by using electric energy stored in the electricity storage device according to an operation priority.

A direct methanol fuel cell system includes a fuel cell main body including at least one membrane-electrode assembly having an electrolyte membrane, and an anode and a cathode positioned on opposite sides of the electrolyte membrane; a fuel-supplying unit feeding a mixing tank with high concentration fuel; the mixing tank mixing and storing the fuel fed from the fuel-supplying unit and an outlet stream discharged from the fuel cell main body; a fuel feeder supplying mixed fuel stored in the mixing tank to the fuel cell main body; and a controller controlling the fuel-supplying unit to stop operating in response to a stop request signal, and controlling the fuel feeder to operate to circulate the mixed fuel via the anode of the fuel cell main body until a fuel concentration of the mixed fuel is less than or equal to a reference concentration.
