An indirect troffer. Embodiments of the present invention provide a troffer-style fixture that is particularly well-suited for use with solid state light sources, such as LEDs. The troffer comprises a light engine unit that is surrounded on its perimeter by a reflective pan. A back reflector defines a reflective interior surface of the light engine. To facilitate thermal dissipation, a heat sink is disposed proximate to the back reflector. A portion of the heat sink is exposed to the ambient room environment while another portion functions as a mount surface for the light sources that faces the back reflector. One or more light sources disposed along the heat sink mount surface emit light into an interior cavity where it can be mixed and/or shaped prior to emission. In some embodiments, one or more lens plates extend from the heat sink out to the back reflector.

Troffer-style fixture

An indirect troffer. Embodiments of the present invention provide a troffer-style fixture that is particularly well-suited for use with solid state light sources, such as LEDs. The troffer comprises light bars mounted proximate to a back reflector. A back reflector defines a reflective interior surface of the lighting troffer. To facilitate thermal dissipation, the light bar can act as a heat sink. A portion of the heat sink is exposed to the ambient room environment while another portion functions as a mount surface for the light sources that faces the back reflector. One or more light sources disposed along the light bar mount surface emit light into an interior cavity where it can be mixed and/or shaped prior to emission. In some embodiments, one or more lens plates extend from the light bar out to the back reflector.

Door frame troffer

An LED lamp with a high color rendering index (CRI) is disclosed. Example embodiments of the invention provide an LED lamp with a relatively high color rendering index (CRI). In some embodiments, the lamp has other advantageous characteristics, such as good angular uniformity. In some embodiments, the LED lamp is sized and shaped as a replacement for a standard incandescent bulb, and includes an LED assembly with at least first and second LEDs operable to emit light of two different colors. In some embodiments, the lamp can emit light with a color rendering index (CRI) of at least 90 without remote wavelength conversion. In some embodiments, the LED lamp conforms some, most, or all of the product requirements for a 60-watt incandescent replacement for the L prize.

Light fixtures having light bar elements therein. In order to mimic the size and appearance of fluorescent bulbs in existing troffer-style and surface-mount fixtures, LEDs are may be arranged on light bars with integrated lenses to both diffuse the light and shape the output beam. One or more LEDs can be mounted, sometimes in clusters, along the length of a base of the light bar which can then be inserted into a fixture. An elongated lens is mounted to the base over the LEDs so that light emitted from the LEDs interacts with the lens before it escapes the fixture. These elongated lenses may be extruded from a diffusive material, for example, and can be shaped in various ways. For example, the lenses may be shaped to disperse more light to the sides, i.e., in a direction away from a normal axis that is perpendicular to the base.

A light fixture with coextruded components is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention provide a solid-state light fixture suitable for use in commercial environments. A light fixture according to example embodiments of the invention includes an LED light source and a coextruded optical assembly. In some embodiments, the reflector portion of the assembly includes a thin skin of reflective material. In some embodiments, the assembly includes an interlocking mechanical interface between the reflector and lens portions of the assembly. In some embodiments, the lens portion of the assembly includes two lens plates. In some embodiments, a longer fixture can be assembled by using two, coextruded portions of an optical assembly, where these portions are adapted to be joined end-to-end. Reinforcing members can be used in the reflector and lens assembly.

Light fixture with coextruded components

A light fixture with a textured reflector is disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention provide for a lighting system in which LEDs face, and the majority of light form the LED light source is incident on, a textured back reflector while producing minimal glare and minimal imaging of the light source. Such a reflector may be referred to as a retro-reflector. The reflector for the light fixture can be made from a relatively inexpensive material such as polycarbonate, which without texturing has a specular or semi-specular surface. Further, a diffuse white layer to provide color mixing or prevent glare and reflections is not needed. The textured reflector can be textured by way of an imprinted pattern or by roughening, and can be extruded. A prismatic texture may be used. The texturing can also be spatially varied.

An optical arrangement for a solid-state lamp is disclosed. A highly reflective secondary reflector is located adjacent to but not in contact with an optical element. In some embodiments, the reflector presents a white, diffuse reflective surface. A secondary reflector with a specular reflective surface can also be used. The secondary reflector can be made of various commercially available materials; for example, MCPET or polycarbide resin, and the arrangement can be used with an LED light source. In some example embodiments, the optical element and the highly reflective secondary reflector each have a plurality of lobes and the arrangement is suitable for an MR16 halogen lamp replacement. In other example embodiments, the highly reflective secondary reflector includes a plurality of recesses corresponding to a plurality of optical elements, and the arrangement is suitable for a PAR incandescent bulb replacement.

Optical arrangement for a solid-state lamp

The fixture includes an elongated back reflector along the longitudinal direction of the fixture and at least one light source mounted to a heat sink structure and arranged to emit at least a portion of light toward the back reflector. The back reflector redirects at least a portion of the light toward an exit lens which interacts with the light as it is emitted from the fixture. Both the shape of the individual fixture elements (e.g., the back reflector and the exit lens) and the arrangement of these elements provide an asymmetrical light output distribution. Various mount mechanisms may be used to attach the fixture to a surface such as a ceiling or a wall, or the fixture may be suspended from a in a pendant configuration.

An elongated lens profile having reverse total internal reflection (TIR) features that improve light extraction when the lens is used in conjunction with a plurality of light emitters. Solid state light emitters, such as LEDs, are arranged proximate to the elongated lens along a longitudinal axis of the lens body. The emitters, which may be grouped in clusters, emit toward a receiving surface of the lens. The receiving surface includes a plurality of reverse TIR features, also disposed along the longitudinal axis. These features may be defined by a series of recessed areas spaced along the longitudinal axis to correspond with the light emitters which can protrude into the negative space created by the recessed features. The recessed features may have more than one shape. The reverse TIR features improve light output uniformity, reducing hot spots along the lens, and improve output efficiency.

Reverse total internal reflection features in linear profile for lighting applications

A directional lighting fixture having a variable beam angle that is easily adjusted. One or more lighting sources are disposed within a fixture housing. A removable cover is disposed over the open end of the housing. The cover comprises a micro lens structure that defines the beam angle of the light that is emitted from the fixture. The removable cover, or in some configurations portions of the cover, can be easily replaced by the end user to achieve a desired beam angle.
