A method of distance estimation is to be implemented using a digital camera, and includes: selecting a pre-established reference dimension corresponding to a target whose distance is to be estimated; enabling operation of the digital camera to capture a clear image containing the target; obtaining a focal length corresponding to the captured clear image; calculating an image dimension for each of predetermined distance values with reference to the selected reference dimension and the focal length; and showing the distance values on a display unit at positions based on proportions of the calculated image dimensions. The distance of the target can be estimated as one of the distance values corresponding to a dimension of the target image contained in the clear image and shown on the display unit.

Method of distance estimation to be implemented using a digital camera

A speed detection method. A range finder acquires a specific number of distance measurement samples of an object during a period of time. A new unit of measurement larger than respective movement distances of the object in a first period and a second period is acquired. Rough measured distances Dand Drespectively corresponding to the locations of the object in the first period and the second period are calculated by comparing portions of the distance measurement samples corresponding to the first period and the second period utilizing the new unit of measurement. A scope is determined based on the Dand Dfor filtering the distance measurement samples. The speed of the object is calculated based the filtered distance measurement samples.

Speed detection methods and devices

A speed detection method is implemented in a speed detector comprising a range finder. First, a specific number of distance measurement samples of an object are acquired during a period of time utilizing the range finder. The distance measurement samples are converted to M versions of the distance measurement samples respectively based on M velocities, wherein M is a positive integer. Each version of the distance measurement samples comprises reflected distance measurement laser pulses. Each reflected pulse corresponds to a measured distance and a received pulse order. A version of the distance measurement samples is determined, which comprises a distance range to which the highest number of reflected pulses corresponds. A speed of the object is calculated based on an assumed velocity to which the determined version corresponds.

Anti-interference speed detection methods and detectors thereof

A laser range finder, including a transmitter, a receiver, a timing-counting module, and a processor is provided. The transmitter transmits a laser signal toward a target, and a reflected signal is reflected from the target, whereby a real fly time is defined. The time-counting module generates a plurality of timing units to measures the real fly time to obtain a measured fly time. The processor generates a distance value based on the measured fly time.

Laser range finder and method to measure a distance

An apparatus for precise distance measurement has a multiple frequency generator, a laser transmitter, an optical receiver, a first measuring unit, a second measuring unit and a central processing unit. The laser transmitter outputs a light signal to a target, and the optical receiver receives the reflected light signal and mixes the base frequency signal from the multiple frequency generator and the reflected light signal and further outputs an measurement signal to the first and second measuring units. The first and second measuring units calculate respectively a time difference and a phase difference between the light signal and the reflected light signal. The central processing unit is connected to the first and second measuring units to calculate a precise distance by the time and the phase difference.
