Provided is a liquid crystal display including a transparent pixel electrode and a transparent common electrode in a pixel region to drive liquid crystals. The transparent common electrode includes a plurality of slits and is configured to open at least a portion of a switching device to connect unit pixels, the slits have an angle ofto&#xb0; with respect to a gate line, and a rubbing direction of a liquid crystal layer is substantially parallel to a gate direction. Therefore, it is possible to provide the liquid crystal display capable of removing factors decreasing an aperture ratio, preventing light from leaking, and further improving internal reflection.

Disclosed is a transflective liquid crystal display having a high opening ratio and a single cell gap structure, which includes first and second substrates arranged opposite each other and respectively having reflective and transmissive regions; an opposite direction reflector disposed on the first substrate for reflecting introduced light to the transmissive regions; a color filter formed on the first substrate; transparent electrodes formed on the color filter; a lower polarization plate attached on the first substrate; common electrodes formed on the second substrate; an upper polarization plate attached on the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and second substrates, wherein the liquid crystal layer corresponding to the reflective region includes a fixing retardation area in which introduced light is always subjected to a constant phase difference.

Transflective type liquid crystal display

Disclosed is a method for forming an alignment layer of an LCD capable of preventing Mura defects when the alignment layer is formed through an LC one drop fill process. The method includes the steps of coating a mixing solution including a solvent and organic polymer materials consisting of polyimide and polyamic acid on the substrates, pre-curing the mixing solution twice with mutually different temperatures, thereby volatizing the solvent and obtaining stable phase-separation between the organic polymer materials and the solvent, and completely curing the pre-cured mixing solution at a temperature of about 180 to 240&#xb0; C. A primary pre-curing process is performed at a temperature less than 50&#xb0; C. under vacuum pressure of about &#x2212;35 to &#x2212;50 psi, and a secondary pre-curing process is performed at a temperature within a range of about 50 to 75&#xb0; C. under the same vacuum pressure.

Method for forming alignment layer of LCD

Disclosed is a vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display. The liquid crystal display comprises a pixel electrode formed on a lower substrate, a counter electrode formed on an upper substrate, and a vertical alignment layer forcing liquid crystal molecules in a liquid crystal layer to be aligned in a vertical direction, wherein the counter electrode is parallelly faced to the pixel electrode while being displaced from the pixel electrode at an interval along a surface of the lower substrate or the upper substrate. Therefore, the liquid crystal display has various properties of a high contrast, a high transmittance resulting from constraint of a disclination, and a fast response speed resulting from identical alignment of the liquid crystal molecules.

Vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display

A semi-transmission type liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer between lower and upper substrates, each having a reflection electrode and a lower orientation film. The upper substrate has a color filter and an upper orientation film. Upper and lower phase films are positioned on the upper and lower substrates, respectively, to transform polarized light from linear to circular. Upper and lower polarization plates are provided on the upper and lower phase films, respectively. The liquid crystal layer phase delay d&#x394; n is 0.24&#x2013;0.27 &#x3bc;m. The upper phase film has a function of &#x3bb;/4 phase compensation and an optical axis of 140&#xb0; to 146&#xb0;. The upper orientation film has an orientation angle of 40&#xb0;&#x2013;50&#xb0;, and the lower orientation film has an orientation angle of &#x2212;10&#xb0; to &#x2212;20&#xb0; relative to a horizontal line. The upper polarization plate has a transmission axis angle of 104&#xb0;&#x2013;122.5&#xb0;.

Semi-transmission type liquid crystal display device

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display having improved screen quality by preventing abnormal light leakage due to ions in a pixel. The present invention comprises: an array substrate whereon a plurality of gate lines and data lines are arranged to be perpendicular to each other, a TFT is formed at the intersection of the lines and a pixel electrode is formed in a pixel region defined by the lines; a color filter substrate combined with the array substrate, whereon a color filter is formed corresponding to the pixel region, a block matrix is formed corresponding to the interface of pixels and a counter electrode is formed on the whole surface including the color filter and the black matrix; and a liquid crystal layer comprising a plurality of liquid crystal molecules interposed between the array substrate and the color filter substrate, wherein the pixel electrode has a rectangular shape and a plurality of acute angle Tips are formed on the edges thereof.

The present invention relates to a reflective liquid crystal display and a fabricating method thereof. The reflective liquid crystal display of the present invention comprises a gate formed on a transparent substrate; an insulating film formed on a transparent electrode including the gate; an amorphous silicon layer pattern, an ohmic layer pattern and a source/drain region deposited on the insulating film; a resin layer which is formed on the entire structure including the source/drain region such a manner that the drain region is partially exposed through the resin layer; a first reflective electrode formed on the resin layer including the drain region; and a second reflective electrode of an uneven shape formed on the first reflective electrode.
