A laundry machine and a control method thereof are disclosed. The disclosed laundry machine includes a drum rotatably installed in a cabinet, a substance supply device for supplying moisture to the drum, a water supply device separably mounted to the cabinet, to supply water to the substance supply device, a sensor for sensing whether or not water is supplied to the water supply device, and a controller for controlling the substance supply device in accordance with a sensing signal from the sensor.

A sampling frequency offset (SFO) estimation method for use in a digital receiver to estimate a correct SFO is disclosed. The method for estimating the SFO in the digital receiver includes the steps of (a) receiving an estimated phase, and comparing a magnitude of the estimated phase with that of a predetermined standard deviation; (b) if the magnitude of the estimated phase is greater than that of the predetermined standard deviation, compulsorily setting the estimated phase to zero, and storing the estimated phase of zero; and (c) calculating an SFO value using the stored phase. Therefore, the method performs zero-forcing on a phase overshoot caused by a ghost, such that a correct SFO can be estimated in the tracking mode.

Sensor for detecting both a water level and a vibration in a washing machine, which permits detection both of the water level of washing water in a washing tub and the vibration of the washing tub, including a housing which is a body of the sensor for detecting both the water level and the vibration, hydraulic pressure transmission means under the housing for moving up and down by a hydraulic pressure of the water level in a washing tub, a coil part above the hydraulic pressure transmission means having a coil with a proper inductance, a core holder on the hydraulic pressure transmission means having a core accommodated therein, the core adapted to move up and down within the coil part for varying the inductance of the coil, a cap fitted to a top portion of the coil part, a spring placed in a hollow of the coil part, and a vibration detecting means adapted to move according to the vibration of the housing for varying the inductance of the coil, whereby detecting the water level in the washing tub by substantially varying the inductance of the coil with the up and down movement of the core during a washing cycle or a rinsing cycle, and substantially detecting the vibration of the washing tub by varying the inductance of the coil by means of the vibration detecting means during a spinning cycle.

A dehydrating apparatus of an automatic washing machine includes: an unbalance sensor mounted on a controller mounted into a top cover, for sensing an unbalance of a washing tub during performing a dehydrating function; a magnet mounted on a door, for sensing an opening of the door during performing the dehydrating function; and a hall sensor mounted on an another controller more adjacent to the magnet, for sensing switch on or off state by means of a magnetic field of the magnet in the event of opening or closing of the door. To sense the unbalance of the washing tub for a certain time after performing the dehydrating cycle, sensing time of the unbalance is counted from starting time of the dehydrating function to compare with a certain time. If the sensing time of the unbalance is more than a certain time, a sub-routine for sensing the unbalance. If not, the sensing time of the unbalance is accumulatively counted and stored into a memory, to determine the dehydrating cycle time. Thus, the unbalance of the washing tub and the opening of the door can exactly be sensed to control them.

Dewatering method for automatic washing machine

A dewatering apparatus of an automatic washing machine includes: an unbalance sensor mounted on a controller mounted into a top cover for sensing unbalance of a washing tub during a dewatering cycle; a magnet mounted on the washing machine door and a hall sensor mounted on the controller opposite to the magnet when the door is closed, for sensing whether the door is opened during the dewatering cycle. The unbalance sensor includes a casing in which a roller freely rolls, wherein a displacement (during unbalance of the washing tub) of the roller from a neutral position, is detected by, for example, a photo switch, press switch, or electrical switch, whereby a state of unbalance can be identified.
