A display device includes a display panel which displays an image and a lenticular lens panel disposed above the display panel, where a lenticular lens area and a sealing area adjacent to the lenticular lens area are defined in the lenticular lens panel. The lenticular lens panel includes a first substrate disposed on the display panel, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate, an insulating layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, where a plurality of lenticular lens surfaces overlapping the lenticular lens area and a groove overlapping the sealing area are defined on the insulating layer, a sealing member disposed in the groove, where the sealing member combines the first substrate with the insulating layer, and a plurality of liquid crystal molecules disposed between the lenticular lens surfaces and the first substrate.

Display device and method of manufacturing lenticular lens panel

A display substrate includes a base substrate, a switching device, and a pixel electrode including a first sub pixel electrode and a second sub pixel electrode. The first sub pixel electrode includes an internal electrode and an external electrode. The internal electrode includes a support electrode portion extending in a second direction, and a horizontal internal branch electrode portion extending in a first direction. The external electrode includes a horizontal external branch electrode portion disposed outside the internal electrode and extending in the first direction, and a vertical external branch electrode portion disposed outside the internal electrode and extending in the second direction. Display substrate and method of manufacturing the same

A curved display device includes a display substrate, an opposite substrate, and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the display substrate and the opposite substrate. The display substrate is curved along a first direction and includes a pixel electrode and a second alignment layer disposed on the pixel electrode. The opposite substrate is coupled to the display substrate to be curved along the first direction and includes a common electrode and a first alignment layer disposed on the common electrode. The first alignment layer comprises different material from the second alignment layer. The pixel electrode includes branch portions extending in a direction inclined with respect to the first direction when viewed in a plan view, and a pitch, which is defined by a sum of a width of each branch portion and a distance between the branch portions, is within a range from about 7.5 micrometers to about 8.5 micrometers.

Curved display device

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention provides a liquid crystal display including a first insulation substrate. A pixel electrode is disposed on the first insulation substrate. A first alignment layer is disposed on the pixel electrode. A second insulation substrate faces the first insulation substrate. A common electrode is disposed on a surface of the second insulation substrate, which the surface of the second insulation substrate faces the first insulation substrate. A second alignment layer is disposed on a surface of the common electrode, which the surface of the common electrode faces the first insulation substrate. A liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules. Liquid crystal molecules adjacent to at least one of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer have a pre-tilt angle. At least one of the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer has an ion inductor.

Liquid crystal display device having upper and lower alignment layers

A display device may include a common electrode, a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, an insulation layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The first pixel electrode overlaps the common electrode. The second pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first pixel electrode and is positioned between the first pixel electrode and the common electrode. A first portion of the second pixel electrode does not overlap the first pixel electrode in a direction perpendicular to the common electrode. A second portion of the second pixel electrode overlaps a first portion of the first pixel electrode. A second portion of the first pixel electrode does not overlap the second pixel electrode in the direction perpendicular to the common electrode. The insulating layer is positioned between the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode. The liquid crystal layer is positioned between the common electrode and the second pixel electrode.

A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a first insulation substrate and a pixel electrode disposed on the first insulation substrate. A first alignment layer is disposed on the pixel electrode. A second insulation substrate faces the first insulation substrate. A common electrode is disposed on a surface of the second insulation substrate facing the first insulation substrate. A second alignment layer is disposed on a surface of the common electrode facing the first insulation substrate. A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate; a pixel electrode disposed on the first substrate; a common electrode disposed on the second substrate; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, where a first cutout having a cross shape is defined in the common electrode, a second cutout is defined in the pixel electrode to be adjacent to and along an edge of the pixel electrode, and the pixel electrode has a step structure, a boundary line of which is in a rhombus shape.

The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display that can improve an aperture ratio and liquid crystal control ability. Provided is a liquid crystal display apparatus. The liquid crystal display apparatus may include a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, a common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer. The first pixel electrode is disposed in a first area, and includes a plurality of outer branches spaced apart from each other. The second pixel electrode is disposed in a second area spaced apart from the first area with an electrode gap therebetween and surrounded by the first area, and includes a plurality of middle branch portions spaced apart from each other. An extending direction of the electrode gap forms one of an acute angle or an obtuse angle with an extending direction of each of the outer branch portions, and the extending direction of the electrode gap forms one of an acute angle or an obtuse angle with an extending direction of each of the middle branch portions.
