A display device includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a column direction and a row direction, a plurality of data lines and a data driving part configured to apply data signals to the data lines. The data lines are connected with one of the pixels of a k-th column ('k' is a natural number) and one of the pixels of a (k+1)-th column in an odd-numbered row. The data lines are connected with one of the pixels of a (k+1)-th column and one of the pixels of a (k+2)-th column in an even-numbered row. As a result, a pseudo dot inversion drive pattern may be implemented while driving the data lines in accordance with a columnar polarity inversion scheme.

A method of operating a display panel in which a plurality of decisions are generated by detecting transitions of a plurality of present pixel data included in a present frame image. A uniform dynamic capacitance compensation (DCC) is performed based on the plurality of decisions. A present grayscale of each of the plurality of present pixel data increases by a first compensation value, decreases by a second compensation value, or is maintained based on the uniform DCC.

Method of operating display panel and display apparatus performing the same

A data driver includes first through n-th shift register units, first through n-th latch units, and first through n-th output buffer units. The first through n-th shift register units shift and store a plurality of image output from a timing controller. The first shift register unit includes first through m-th shift registers. The first through m-th shift registers shift and store first through m-th image data among the plurality of image data. The first through n-th latch units are connected to the first through n-th shift register units, respectively. The first latch unit includes first through m-th latches. The first through n-th output buffer units are connected to the first through n-th latch units, respectively. The first output buffer unit includes first through m-th output buffers. The first through n-th latch units sequentially latch the plurality of image data stored in the first through n-th shift register units.

A display apparatus includes a display panel which receives light to display an image, a backlight unit, which includes a light source providing the light to the display panel, and a support member supporting the display panel, at least one protrusion part disposed on a side surface of the display panel and protruding from the side surface of the display panel, and a coupling member disposed on the at least one protrusion part and coupled to the support member, where the display panel is fixed to the support member by the coupling member.

A display apparatus includes a display panel including a display area in which gate lines and data lines are disposed to display an image and a peripheral area which is disposed around the display area and includes fan-out lines having different lengths, and a driving part configured to output driving signals having different levels to channels respectively connected to the fan-out lines according to the different lengths of the fan-out lines.

Display device and method of operating the same

Provided are an image signal compensation apparatus and a liquid crystal display (LCD) including the same. The image signal compensation apparatus includes a lookup table (LUT) and an image signal compensation unit. The LUT includes reference data that corresponds to each combination of first and second reference gray levels and is arranged in a matrix. The image signal compensation unit receives first and second image signals, receives reference data corresponding to the first and second image signals from the LUT, and compensates the second image signal using the reference data. The reference data includes diagonal reference data located on a diagonal line in the matrix, and at least one diagonal reference data from among the diagonal reference data has a different value from a corresponding combination of the first and second reference gray levels.

Image signal compensation apparatus and liquid crystal display including the same

A liquid crystal display system including a signal processing device uses interpolation to generate an intermediate image frame using previous image frame data and present image frame data. The system converts data of the intermediate image frame into transposed image data that is to be used to drive a liquid crystal display panel and display a corresponding image. The transposed image data and the present image data are subjected to a prespecified DCC process (dynamic capacitance compensation process) to thereby generate respective first and second compensation image data. Since the first compensation image data is generated based on the transposed image data and the transposition is configured to prevent over-compensation by the DCC process, over-compensation by the dynamic capacitance compensation process can be reduced or prevented.

Signal processing device for liquid crystal display panel and liquid crystal display including the signal processing device

A liquid crystal display ('LCD') includes; a gate line, a plurality of pairs of a first data line and a second data line which border a plurality of pixel regions and are disposed respectively on both sides of each pixel region, a plurality of pairs of first and second thin-film transistors ('TFTs') which are connected to the gate line and a pair of the first and second data lines, and a first and second subpixel electrode disposed in each pixel region and connected to the first and second TFTs, respectively, wherein the pixel regions include first through third pixel regions arranged in the first direction, wherein at least one of the first and second TFTs of the second pixel region is disposed on a same side of an adjacent data line as the first and second subpixel electrodes of one of the first and third pixel regions.

A liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal panel having a plurality of pixels, a lookup table which stores information about a plurality of digital common voltages, each of the plurality of digital common voltages corresponding to at least one gray value, a timing controller which analyzes gray characteristics of image signals to be displayed on the liquid crystal panel and which selects one of the digital common voltages based on an analysis result, and a common voltage generator which generates an analog common voltage in response to the digital common voltage selected by the timing controller and which supplies the analog common voltage to the liquid crystal panel.

In a method of driving a display panel and a display apparatus for performing the method, a first pixel equipped in the display panel is driven with a first data voltage to which a first gamma curve is applied and a second pixel adjacent to the first pixel is driven with a second data voltage to which a second gamma curve is applied during an (N)-th frame, wherein N is a natural number. The first pixel and the second pixel is driven with a third data voltage to which a third gamma curve having a luminance between the first gamma curve and the second gamma curve is applied during a (N+1)-th frame.
