Disclosed herein are apparatuses, methods and systems for a configurable and secure mobile tool for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) metering systems, wherein the tool comprises a suite of mobile apps that run on a mobile device (e.g., tablet, smartphone) and have functionality to support the installation, maintenance, service, diagnostics and configuration of meters in AMI and AMR systems. The mobile app may remotely synchronize through a secure communication channel with a server in communication with a database that contains configuration settings and related data created by an administrator utilizing an administrator station. During synchronization, the mobile app functionality is configured and customized based on user group authorization profiles defined by an administrator, and data collected and generated by the mobile app that is stored on the mobile device is transferred to the database where it may be accessed by an administrator station.

Configurable secure mobile tool for AMI and AMR metering systems

Graphical tool and method for designing device-to-device configurations used in power systems. The tool comprises software program instructions configured to allow a user to graphically associate on a monitor an intelligent electronic device (IED) selected from an available list to a corresponding switching device of the power system. For a first IED associated to corresponding switching device, the user graphically configures on the monitor a related logic by selecting one or more logical inputs/outputs and one or more target IEDs from/to which said logical inputs/outputs are to be received/sent, respectively.

Methods and apparatus for designing device-to-device configurations suitable to be used in a power system

A metering device may be configured to communicate with other devices on a plurality of metering communication networks, such as an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network. For example, a metering end device may be programmed or reconfigured via an AMI network. A metering end device may receive, via the AMI network, a program recipe comprising one or more configuration parameters. The program recipe may be specific to the end device and formatted according to a generic program table of the end device. The end device may decrypt and validate the program recipe. The end device may implement the decrypted program recipe to configure the end device with the one or more configuration parameters.

An exemplary method for configuring an intelligent electronic device in a power delivery system includes receiving identification data for the intelligent electronic device, based on the received identification data and on capabilities of the intelligent electronic device, generating a configuration profile for the intelligent electronic device, receiving operating parameters for the intelligent electronic device, determining a coordination of the intelligent electronic device with the power delivery system based on the received operating parameters, displaying the determined coordination, modifying the configuration profile based on the received operating parameters and the determined coordination, and configuring the intelligent electronic device with the modified configuration profile.

A method and apparatus for restoring power to loads connected to a feeder powered by a power source. The feeder is provided with a plurality of switching devices and a master electronic device which is in operative communication with the switching devices and has a plurality of power restoration plans stored therein. Upon occurrence of a fault in a zone of the feeder, the identity of the switching device which is closest to and upstream from the faulted zone relative to the power source is used in order to select a power restoration plan and restore power to some or all the loads connected to non-faulted zones of the feeder from one or more additional feeders.

The present invention provides a digital protection and control (P & C) device for a power distribution network, which comprises a control unit and human-machine interface (HMI) for allowing a user access to the control unit. The control unit comprises a microprocessor that exchanges data information with the HMI. The digital P & C device, according to the present invention, further comprises a user authentication mechanism for regulating the access of a user to the control unit. This user authentication mechanism comprises an electronic authentication device, associable with the mentioned HMI, which stores first predefined data/information. This first predefined data/information comprises at least a user identification code, for establishing the identity of a user; and a user access code, for establishing the access mode of the user to the control unit. In addition, the electronic authentication device is able to communicate with the control unit, when it is associated with the HMI of the digital P & C device.

A bistable actuator for residual-current devices, including a lamina having at least one face, a first end, and a second end, and configured to actuate from a first stable position to a second stable position; at least one layer of piezoelectric material provided on the at least one face of the lamina at the first end of the lamina, and configured to stimulate the lamina to shift from the first stable position to the second stable position in response to an electrical activation signal; and a support element including an interlock coupling, and configured to support the first end and the second end of the lamina, wherein the interlock coupling is configured to interlock the first end of the lamina to the support element, and the second end of the lamina is rigidly coupled to the support element in order to keep the lamina in the first stable position.
