A transaxle for a working vehicle including a housing, an integrated hydrostatic transmission (IHT) disposed within the housing, and a bi-directional overrunning clutch disposed within the housing and coupled to an output shaft of the IHT. The bi-directional overrunning clutch includes an input gear having a central opening, a roller assembly disposed within the central opening of the input gear, a plurality of rollers for selective engagement with the input gear, and a pair of hubs. Each hub is disposed at least partially within the roller assembly. The transaxle further includes a pair of clutch covers. Each clutch cover is disposed at either end of the roller assembly and each clutch cover is coupled directly to the roller assembly. The bi-directional overrunning clutch further includes a pair of friction members. Each friction member is disposed between one of the hubs and respective clutch cover. The transaxle also includes a pair of shaft segments of a primary drive axle.

Automatic traction enhancement for a transaxle

A supplemental brake system of a zero turn vehicle has a prime mover, a brake pedal, a pair of axles, and a pair of transaxles driven by the prime mover so as to drive the respective axles. The transaxles include respective brakes for braking the respective axles according to depression of the brake pedal. Also included are supplemental braking means for stopping transmission of power from the prime mover to the pair of transaxles according to depression of the brake pedal.

Supplemental brake system of zero turn vehicle

Presented herein are four-wheel drive systems incorporating a bi-directional overrunning clutch design to control the torque transmission between front and rear transaxles. In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a four-wheel drive system comprising a front transaxle, a rear transaxle, a transmission receiving drive power from a prime mover, and a bi-directional overrunning clutch drivingly coupled to an output shaft of the transmission and selectively coupled to the front and rear transaxle.

Central differential for a working vehicle

A transaxle is provided for a lawn tractor. The lawn tractor includes a prime mover, a mower unit having a grass-discharging duct disposed at a substantially lateral center portion of the mower unit, left and right drive wheels disposed on lateral opposite sides of the grass-discharging duct, and left and right final transmission devices disposed on lateral opposite sides of the grass-discharging duct. The transaxle is disposed above the grass-discharging duct. The transaxle comprises: a transaxle housing; an input shaft having a lower portion extended downward from the transaxle housing; an input pulley provided on the lower portion of the input shaft so as to be disposed between the transaxle housing and the grass-discharging duct; and left and right output shafts projecting laterally from the transaxle housing opposite to each other so as to be drivingly connected to the respective left and right drive wheels through the respective left and right final transmission devices.

Transaxle for lawn tractor

A bi-directional overrunning clutch comprising an input gear, a pair of hubs, and a roller assembly is provided. Each hub is engaged to an end of one of a pair of shaft segments of a primary drive axle. The roller assembly is disposed within the input gear and about at least a portion of each hub. The roller assembly includes spring pins, extending from the roller assembly, with ball locks adapted to engage detents on the surface of each hub, so as to form spring pin engagements between the roller assembly and the hubs. In operation, rotation of the input gear causes rotation of the roller assembly. Thereafter, rotation of the roller assembly causes rotation of the hubs via the spring pin engagements. The spring pins, however, are generally adapted to disengage the spring pin engagements when one of the hubs rotates faster than the other hub.

Automatic traction enhancement for transaxle

A bidirectional overrunning clutch comprising an input gear, a pair of hubs, and a roller assembly is provided. Each hub is engaged to an end of one of a pair of shaft segments of a primary drive axle. The roller assembly is disposed within the input gear and about at least a portion of each hub. The roller assembly includes rollers disposed within recesses of the roller assembly. The roller assembly also includes a spring extending from the roller assembly to exert frictional forces between the roller assembly and the hubs. In operation, rotation of the input gear causes rotation of the roller assembly. Thereafter, rotation of the roller assembly causes rotation of the hubs via the engagements between the rollers and the hubs.

With regard to a transaxle comprising a housing, which houses a hydrostatic stepless transmission constructed by fluidly connecting a hydraulic pump with a hydraulic motor and an axle drivingly connected to the transmission, the housing is constructed by detachably joining a first housing element with a second housing element through a joint surface in parallel to the lengthwise direction of the axle, a counter shaft, drivingly interposed between the hydrostatic stepless transmission and the axle in the housing, is located its axis in the first housing element, a leg member is engaged with the first housing element, and one of ends of the leg member is engaged with a part of the counter shaft, and the other end of the leg member is engaged with the second housing element so as not to be movable.

Transaxle

A control arm is coupled to a control shaft of a hydraulic pump. A friction shaft extends parallel to the control shaft and is slidably moveable within an arcuate-shaped hole in the control arm. A stop plate is movably supported by the control shaft and the friction shaft. When the stop plate is in the operating position, a friction pad supported by the friction shaft is biased by a pressure plate and a spring against the control arm. When the stop plate is in the braking position, a sloping region of the stop plate engages a pin extending from the pressure plate such that the friction pad is spaced from the control arm and arcuate-shaped grooves in the stop plate engage pins extending from the control arm in a neutral position. The present invention also includes a hydrostatic transmission and a vehicle incorporating the cruise control and neutral return mechanism.
