A torque control fastener system having a fastener nut, a helical wire insert, and a shaft, where the nut and helical wire insert have unique hardness and coefficient of thermal expansion relationships that produce improved performance.

Precision torque control positive lock nut

A fastener system including a nut body and a helical thread insert. The nut body having an internally threaded bore containing a plurality of bore threads, and at least one bore obstruction. The helical thread insert formed to create a plurality of internal HTI threads and a plurality of external HTI threads, with the helical thread insert received in the internally threaded bore and not occupying all of the plurality of bore threads, and having its movement limited by the bore obstruction. The helical thread insert having threads with both circular end profiles and a non-circular end profile. The non-circular end profile including at least three straight segments, and located between circular threads.

Fastener system

A fastener for attachment to a panel, having an inner skin and an outer skin, via a panel aperture in the outer skin. The fastener including an insert pillar, a base plate, a spring, and a top insert arranged and configured to allow longitudinal compression of the spring resulting in movement and deflection of components to promote ease of use, security, and durability.

Panel fastener

A captive fastener having multiple components selectively biased to improve durability, including a primary body, an actuator, a plurality of locking pins, a biasing system, a bushing, and an actuator biasing member. Application of a predetermined force to an actuator proximal end longitudinally displaces the actuator from an actuator first position to an actuator second position and forces a cam leading edge against a biasing member to retract a pin from an extended position to a retracted position that does not interfere with a thread pattern formed in the fastener. The actuator biasing member returns the actuator to the actuator first position upon removal of the predetermined force allowing the biasing member to bias the pin away from the retracted position.

Captive fastener

A fastener system for use in securing objects, such as stress skinned panels, to a structural support, such as an aircraft spar or cross member. The fastener system includes a radially-expandable collar assembly.

Expandable diameter fastener

A ballistic resistant fastener having a ballistic resistant face plate includes a plurality of layers of aramid synthetic fibers or carbon nanotubes, a plug body having a threaded body bore extending into the body, a helical thread insert within the plug body, a bolt engaging the helical thread insert, and a bottom cup having a cup sidewall attached to the body.

The present disclosure relates to a fastener system for use in securing objects, such as stress skinned panels, to a structural support, such as an aircraft spar or cross member. The fastener may be provided with a radially-expandable collar assembly, an anti-rotator assembly, a shaft, and a bolt-lock.

Expandable diameter fastener with cam-lock feature

A fastener comprising a nut body and an associated Lockone clasp is disclosed. The locking clasp may be maintained in its association by one or more locking clasp retainers, the retainers forming an arc. In one embodiment, the nut body is formed with an internally threaded thread bore partially filled by helical thread insert. In another preferred embodiment the helical thread insert is a free running helically wound wire thread insert.

Composite fastener with locking cap feature

The invention is a system for measuring the thrust (and, optionally, radial) loads placed on a support thrust bearing assembly that supports a rotating shaft in an apparatus. The system includes an apparatus housing and a load isolation member that supports the support thrust bearing. The load isolation member is not in contact with the apparatus housing. A force sensor is disposed between the apparatus housing and the load isolation member such that axial loads, and optionally radial loads, are permitted to be transmitted by the load isolation member from the support thrust bearing assembly and are measured continuously by the sensor. The corresponding method for measuring the axial load placed on a support thrust bearing assembly that supports a rotating shaft in an apparatus includes providing an apparatus housing and a load isolation member supporting the support thrust bearing. The load isolation member is disposed such that it is not in contact with the apparatus housing. A force sensor is disposed between the apparatus housing and the load isolation member. Axial loads placed on said support thrust bearing assembly are measured with said force sensor.

The invention relates to structural shapes intended to be used as joists, studs, braces, and/or connective members associated with frames, buildings, shipping containers, truck and trailer bodies, and other similar construction applications and, according to the invention, can preferably be roll formed from a coated metal strip to provide a novel laminated configuration which helps to reduce the rate of heat loss through a wall, roof, or floor in which they may be installed.
