A sound absorbing device for use as a sound barrier. The device includes at least one elongated tubular member of fiber reinforced, thermosetting resin formed by pultrusion and having a hollow interior able to receive sound absorbing material. The hollow interior is filled with sound absorbing material including particulate, recycled polymer firmly compacted within and substantially filling the hollow interior of the tubular member.

Composite sound wall

A tile for positioning on walkways, crosswalks and other areas of pedestrian traffic for providing direction and warning to visually handicapped persons. The tile includes a flat plate having top and bottom surfaces and an array of raised bumps coupled and formed integrally with the top surface of the plate and projecting upward therefrom in a tactile pattern for providing tactile information. The combination of plate and raised bumps is comprised of fiber reinforced, thermosetting resin to form a rigid tile of integral construction.

Mobility guide tile for visually handicapped

An asphalt pavement material comprising an aggregate mixture of asphalt, gravel, sand and a pelletized composite of recycled rubber and thermoplastic material. The pelletized composite has a uniform size, smaller than the gravel and larger than the sand and is configured to fit within interstitial voids between the gravel. Sufficient pelletized composite is added to the asphalt pavement and mineral aggregate mixture (replacing mineral aggregate of comparable size) to substantially fill void spaces between the gravel.

Aggregate of asphalt and filler

A sound wall for placement along a roadside for reducing the transmission of sound from a traffic area wherein the sound wall comprises a plurality of stiff, resilient containment members respectfully configured with the channel configuration and having an enclosed channel volume and continuous open side. Each channel volume is filled with a composite composition of rubber chips and binder compressed within the channel and substantially filling the channel volume. These containment members are stacked in nesting relationship to form a wall structure, with the open side being oriented toward the traffic area.

Sound barrier

A device is provided preventing the transmission of sound, the device being fabricated of polymer composition and comprising a hollow core member formed of fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin, and at least outer member formed of unreinforced thermoplastic resin which is friction fit to the core member. The core member and outer members are preferably formed by pultrusion and extrusion, respectively. Adjacently disposed devices are connected together to form a fence-like barrier through which few or no sound waves are allowed to pass. This system is advantageously used to prevent sound waves emanating from a large transportation structure such as a highway, railroad track, or airport.

A tamper resistant sign for flush mounting to a wall or substantially flat surface comprises an elongate, one piece, extruded or pultruded frame. The frame has a back wall and a pair of ribs extending backwardly from respective lateral side edges of the back wall. A pair of open sided channels are positioned along the side edges of the frame. The open sides of the channels face each other and have a clear plastic faceplate positioned therebetween, with the opposite lateral sides of the faceplate being received longitudinally within the respective channels. Molded end caps are provided that seat firmly against the back wall and channel of the frame to close the opposite ends of the sign. The end caps fit securely and tightly in the channels and against the back wall of the frame.

Tamper resistant sign

A modular barrier for attachment to a barricade along a road side for substantially blocking vision toward construction zones or other areas of distracting activity. The barrier includes an elongated base plate with attached support posts which include mounting tracks for insertion of opaque panel members between adjacent posts. Panel edges are configured for tongue-in-groove insertion within channel tracks formed at the lateral sides of each support post. The modular construction of this unit enables quick and economical emplacement at construction areas and other sites where vehicle drivers are prone to distraction by off road activities.

Vision blocking barrier

A snow pole extension device for attachment to road side delineators wherein at least a section of the delineator includes a tubular cross section and opening having a substantially uniform geometric configuration. The device includes an insert coupling for attachment to a base end of the snow pole to facilitate its insertion within the tubular opening of the delineator. This insert coupling is configured as a sleeve member having a tubular opening similar in geometric configuration with the external configuration of the snow pole to facilitate snug, friction fit attachment. The sleeve member is formed with an exterior configuration and dimension sufficiently small to enable insertion and retention of the sleeve member therein by means of a tight, frictional fit.

Removable snow pole insert

A delineator device having high visibility and utility for attachment to a paving surface such as a median curb or other dividing area between two lanes of traffic. The device includes an integral base member and vertical support member having a top and a bottom end and intermediate section including an elongated concave-convex structure. The bottom end of the vertical support is coupled to an upper face of the base to provide support for an attached horizontal member at the top end of vertical support member. This horizontal member includes top and bottom edges and an intermediate section which is also of concave-convex structure. A receiving base is provided for insertion of a projection tab section which extends downward from the base member. Locking flanges are attached to the tab to enable the device to be secured in its inserted position.

Horizontal reflective highway marker

A reflective device for providing 360 degrees of reflective surface to an attached support post having only forward and rearward faces suitable for viewing. The device comprises an elongate, hollow tubular body having a top rim, intermediate side wall and bottom rim. A closed top cover is coupled to the top rim and includes a recess which projects above the cover and is configured to provide a conformed fit around the upper end of the support post which is received therein. A slotted opening is positioned in the bottom cover which is coupled to the bottom rim and provides a port for inserting the post for seating within the 360 degree reflective structure.

360 Degree reflector device

A tile for positioning on walkways, crosswalks and other areas of pedestrian traffic for providing direction and warning to visually handicapped persons. The tile comprises a flat plate having a chamfered edge and including raised bumps coupled to a top surface of the plate and projecting upward therefrom to a maximum height of less than 8 millimeters. A flowable adhesive used at the chamfered edge provides for a tapered seal around the tile or for formation of an expansion joint between two contiguous tiles. The bumps are configured as truncated structure having a larger base and tapered to a top surface which bears the foot traffic. A bottom surface of the tile includes a uniform adhesive layer which enables attachment of the tile to a street surface. A system of tiles for assisting visually handicapped persons across the street is also disclosed and includes a combination of dot and bar tiles oriented to give direction to the pedestrian. An accompanying guide strip is attached at the street surface adjacent the dot and bar tiles and detected with the swing of a cane to lead along the preferred pedestrian course.

A collapsible barricade comprising a rigid cross-member coupled by an elastic joint to at least one pair of rigid legs. The elastic joint is developed by a flexible, elastic, resilient connecting member which is attached at one end to the cross-member and at the other end to the rigid leg in a manner such that the formed elastic joint is capable of stretching under stress to allow the pair of legs and attached cross-member to deform from a sturdy configuration when subjected to an impact by a vehicle or other moving object. The collapsible barricade can then be restored to its sturdy condition by merely repositioning or reattaching the connecting members to the respective legs and cross-member and by repositioning the deformed structure to its original configuration.

Traffic barricade

A deformable, detachable base for supporting and stabilizing an attached vertical sign or delineator in upright orientation with respect to a ground or road surface to which the base may be affixed. The detachable base includes a deformable, domed structure comprised of a top, intermediate body wall and base attachment channel. The base attachment channel includes first and second channel walls, and a third radial flange which projects inward from the second channel wall toward a central axis of the domed structure. Accordingly, three (3) enclosing walls define a channel enclosure which is utilized to retain the domed structure in attachment to a rigid base plate. The base plate has a vertically oriented lip at its perifery which is adapted in size and configuration for a tight, contour fit within the channel enclosure. The inventive structure enables easy attachment and removal of the domed structure to the base plate during non-impacting conditions; however, the same domed structure responds to vehicle impact by gripping more tightly at the base plate lip to thereby hold its attached condition despite high speed vehicular impact.

Detachable base for road delineators

A collapsible fence structure suited for recreational application such as baseball outfield fencing and the like, comprising a flexible, resilient, plastic fence mesh attached to fiber reinforced plastic support posts which are adapted to deflect under the weight of impact of an individual falling against the fence and being operable to immediately restore to an original, upright condition without causing injury to the individual or damage to the fence structure.

Collapsible recreational fence

A simulated tubular member for use as part of a highway safety device wherein the tube is comprised of a stiff, resilient rod which provides rigidity to maintain the simulated tube in straight orientation during static conditions, but deflects upon impact to avoid destruction. The rod includes a plurality of plastic bulbs which are configured to provide the appearance of a hollow plastic tube in conformance with state and federal highway specifications.
