UV-sensitive negative acting silver halide photographic elements are used in contacting processes, and especially dry etch correction processes and can be safely handled under white light. These elements comprise a support base, a negative acting hydrophilic colloidal silver halide emulsion layer comprising photographic silver halide grains, and one or more hydrophilic colloidal layers, wherein said silver halide emulsion support base has on its surface most distant from the layer an antihalation layer comprising a water-removable UV-absorbing compound having significant absorption in the range of from 350 to 400 nm.

Certain radiation sensitive quinone compounds and nitrobenzylidene dyes in photothermographic elements, compositions and processes on exposure to activating radiation, release a species which catalyzes the reduction of silver salt oxidizing agents in the presence of non-light sensitive reducing agents upon heating. The elements, after imagewise exposure, are heated to develop the image.

Novel trimethine hemioxonol dyes are provided in which the polymethine chain of the dye includes the 1, 2 and 3 carbon atoms of a 1-cyclohexen-3-ylidene nucleus, the 1-carbon atom of said 1-cyclohexen-3-ylidene nucleus having the nitrogen atom of a tertiary amino group attached thereto.
