An elongated strip of flexible sheet material including at least one surface having a coefficient of friction relative to the surface of a golf ball and/or the striking surface of an associated golf club which is less than the coefficient of friction of the ball surface relative to the striking surface. The shank of a golf tee which supports the golf ball in a 'teed-up' position passes through apertures in opposite ends of the strip to maintain the strip in encircling relation to the 'teed-up' ball. The strip reduces the magnitude of lateral components of force frictionally transferred to the ball surface by the club striking surface when the ball is driven from the tee by an improperly executed drive thereby reducing the magnitude of a resulting slice or hook.

Golf driving aid

An electronic hub odometer employs a permanent magnet and a magnetic reed switch for recording the number of revolutions of a vehicle wheel to which the odometer is mounted. A programmable integrated circuit electrically communicates with a clock crystal and the magnetic reed switch to automatically produce data relative to the time, distance and rate of travel of the associated vehicle. The data is stored in a random access memory integrated circuit. An infrared light emitting diode is employed for transmitting the data from the odometer to a remote unit. Information is also transmitted to the odometer from a remote unit via a photo-optical detector.

Electronic hub odometer

A passive flow control valve assembly for controlling the flow of fuel through the fill pipe of an underground fuel storage system is disclosed comprising a valve housing mounted to the discharge end of the fill pipe, a valve assembly for controlling flow through the housing which is mounted for movement between a first open position permitting substantially unrestricted flow through the housing and at least a second position substantially restricting the flow through the housing, an actuator arm assembly for moving the valve between the first and second positions with the actuator arm being interconnected to the valve so as to progressively correspondingly move the valve from the first open position to the second closed position as the actuator arm moves from a first position to a second position, and a float assembly connected to the actuator arm for moving the arm responsive to the liquid level in the storage tank.

Storage tank flow control valve assembly

A liquid level measuring device has an outer capacitance tube, an imperforate glass tube coaxially within the outer tube defining a capacitor annulus between them, and an inner capacitor sleeve coaxially within the glass tube and having separate longitudinally extending sleeve sections. The separate sleeve sections cooperate with the outer capacitance tube to form a plurality of capacitor sections each having a separately measurable value which varies between dry minimum and submerged maximum.

Liquid level measuring system

A liquid level measuring system for the underground fuel storage tanks of a fuel dispensing station having a multiple segment capacitance probe in each storage tank and a microcomputer for periodically measuring the capacitance of each segment of each probe and calculating the level and volume of fuel in each tank using capacitance and volume calibration constants automatically updated by the microcomputer from the measured capacitance data and from fuel delivery data automatically fed to the microcomputer.

A rotary electromagnetic decade indicator having a permanent magnet rotor with ten alternating north and south salient poles, a salient pole stator with primary and secondary salient poles in one-half digit out of phase relationship and a master salient pole with a relatively wide pole face with sections thereof in full digit phase relationship with the primary and secondary poles and a stator winding on the master pole for magnetizing the master pole in either direction and the remaining primary and secondary salient poles in the opposite direction for stepping the rotor one count.

Rotary electromagnetic indicator

A gasoline station with self-service and attendant-operated fuel dispensing areas and a fuel delivery control system with a central control station for activating each self-service dispenser and registering the amount of fuel delivered thereby, an auxiliary control station at the attendant-operated area for remote attendant activation of each self-service dispenser and voice annunciator means for voice annunciation of the cost amount of each completed self-service delivery for facilitating attendant collection of payment.

Fuel delivery control system

An electrical counting device with a rotary counter, a rotary drive assembly having a driven rotor with a verge for indexing the counter in stepwise fashion and a coaxial drive rotor in frictional engagement with the driven rotor, a coil torsion spring biasing the drive rotor in one angular direction and a tension wire conductor extending angularly about a drum of the drive rotor and connected to be heated and thereby lengthened with an electrical current to index the counter a first one-half count with the torsion spring and a remaining one-half count with the tension wire upon subsequent cooling and contraction thereof.

Electrical counting mechanism

Embodiments of a fuel pump register and register drive unit assembly having a register with pairs of oppositely facing volume and cost counters, conventional reset means for resetting the counter wheels to zero between fluid deliveries, the volume counters being mechanically indexed in a conventional manner for registering the volume amount of fuel delivered, and the cost counters being indexed by a pair of electrical stepping motors with one stepping motor connected for indexing the lowest order counter wheels of both cost counters and the second stepping motor connected for indexing the second lowest order cost counter wheels of both cost counters, the remaining higher order counter wheels of both cost counters being indexed via transfer pinions in a conventional manner.

Counter operating system

A gasoline station with self-service and attendant operated pumps and a fuel delivery control and registration system with a fixed remote control unit operable for selectively activating each self-service pump and registering the amount of fuel delivered and a portable control unit for operating the fixed control unit and registering the amount of fuel delivered via two-way radio communication between the portable and fixed control units.

A plug-in counter system for recording the use of an associated business machine and having a plug-in counter unit for each user and a receptacle unit for individually inserting each counter unit therein, the receptacle unit and each counter unit having magnetic couplings for magnetically coupling an electromagnet of the receptacle unit to an inserted counter unit for indexing the counter unit with the electromagnet.

Plug-in counter with cost reduction

A fuel pump register with pairs of oppositely facing volume and cost counters, conventional reset means for resetting the counter wheels to zero between fluid deliveries, the volume counters being indexed in a conventional manner for registering the volume amount of fuel delivered, and the cost counters being indexed by a pair of electrical stepping motors with one stepping motor connected for indexing the lowest order counter wheels of both cost counters and the second stepping motor connected for indexing the second lowest order cost counter wheels of both cost counters, the remaining higher order counter wheels of both cost counters being indexed via transfer pinions in a conventional manner.

Counting system

Gasoline dispensing apparatus with cost and volume registers composed of banks of rotary electromagnetic indicators, each having an electromagnetic stator with a drive coil for indexing a respective rotary indicator wheel and a sensing coil for sensing wheel rotation and direction, and an indicator operating circuit for accumulating, and for indexing the indicator wheels for registering, the cost and volume of fuel delivered. The sensing coil is employed for monitoring and verifying wheel rotation and each indicator wheel is indexed by energizing the respective drive coil in the appropriate direction and for an optimum interval controlled by the respective sensing coil. The indicator wheels are reset in the reverse direction to their '0' count positions, where the wheels are retained against further reverse rotation by one-way locking pawls, and are then indexed in the forward direction one step and in the reverse direction one step and then through one additional drive coil energizing cycle to verify that the indicator wheels are at their '0' positions.

Rotary electromagnetic indicator system

Gasoline dispensing apparatus with cost and volume registers composed of banks of rotary electromagnetic indicators, each having a two-coil electromagnetic stator for indexing a respective rotary indicator wheel, and a drive circuit for accumulating the cost and volume of fuel delivered and for indexing the indicator wheels of the banks thereof for registering the cost and volume of fuel delivered. The drive circuit is operable for indexing each indicator wheel with multiple step indexing cycles providing a predetermined multiple step energization sequence of the two coils of the electromagnetic stator. The drive circuit is operable for resetting the counter wheels by indexing the wheels in the forward direction to their '9' positions and then nine counts in the reverse direction to their '0' count positions where the wheels are retained against further reverse rotation by one-way locking pawls.
