A compact downhole tool, such as a frac plug, may include a single frustoconical member and a single set of slips. The slips may further include an internal button that engages with the frustoconical member. Various elements in the downhole tool may be dissolvable or degradable.

Compact downhole tool

A downhole tool is configured on a wireline adapter kit in the run-in position is disclosed. The downhole tool comprises a large open bore when the downhole tool is set and the wireline adapter kit is removed, thereby allowing production to commence without removal of the downhole tool. The large bore diameter may be greater than 2 inches for a 4.5 inch casing, or greater than 2.5 inches for a 5.5 inch casing.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a downhole tool having a plurality of turbulence-generating channels. Other aspects of the disclosure relate to downhole tools having one or more ports. Embodiments further include methods for connecting the downhole tool to a wireline system and performing a pump-down operation where the plurality of turbulence-generating channels of the downhole tool create turbulence in fluid being pumped around the downhole tool, creating a force on the downhole tool in a downhole direction. Embodiments further include methods where a component moving in the cavity of the downhole tool unseals the opening at the downhole end of the substantially cylindrical body; and pulling the downhole tool in an uphole direction in the wellbore, wherein fluid in the wellbore passes through the port, into the cavity, and out of the opening on the downhole end of the downhole tool.

Sleeve for downhole tools

A filament-reinforced composite material having with load-aligned filament windings enables improvement of mechanical properties for specific loading of parts made from the material. The orientation of the winding within the part may be changed depending on an orientation of an external load to the part. In one example, the part may be a slip in a frac plug or a bridge plug in a downhole application.

A retrievable downhole tool has a mandrel, an upper radially expandable slip carried by the mandrel, a lower radially expandable slip carried by the mandrel, a rubber element disposed between the upper radially expandable slip and the lower radially expandable slip, an upper backup disposed between the upper radially expandable slip and the rubber element, and a lower backup disposed between the rubber element and the lower radially expandable slip. At least one of the upper radially expandable slip, the lower radially expandable slip, the upper backup, and the lower backup comprises a soluble material.

Retrievable downhole tool

A setting tool for use inside a well bore casing having an upper portion, a lower portion, and a wrap spring. The upper portion includes a mandrel coupled to a connecting line. The upper portion is configured to receive an input. The lower portion includes a first sleeve configured translate along an axis of the setting tool. The lower portion is selectively coupled to the upper portion. The wrap spring has a torsional preload and is coupled to the upper portion and the lower portion. The wrap spring is configured to selectively release the lower portion and upon reception of the input, such that the first sleeve is permitted to translate along the axis.

Hydrostatic setting tool

A downhole tool that is used to seal a well bore. The downhole tool has at least one of a nose cap coupled to a slip means for converting shear forces into compression forces, a pultrusion rod, and a butterfly ring. The pultrusion rod extends the full length of the center mandrel. The butterfly ring includes a plurality of wedges configured to remove the extrusion gap when the tool is expanded to prevent failure of a sealing member over increased well bore diameters. The downhole tool includes a pressure equalization port to equalize pressure between a first and a second fluid volume during removal of the tool from the well bore.

A downhole apparatus and assembly for use in a well bore and associated method are disclosed. The downhole apparatus includes a mandrel, a first slip, and a second slip, both slips being disposed on the mandrel. The slips are configured to grippingly engaging the well bore when in a set position. A packer cup is also disposed on the mandrel. The packer cup is provided for sealing an annulus between the mandrel and the well bore. The packer cup is slidable relative to the mandrel, and can be controlled to slide along the mandrel in order to move the slip to the set position. The downhole assembly includes a downhole tool and a setting apparatus. The setting apparatus can be used to lower the downhole apparatus to a desired setting depth and then to release the downhole apparatus.

Downhole apparatus with packer cup and slip

A downhole apparatus and for use in a well bore and associated method are disclosed. The downhole apparatus includes a center mandrel. A slip means is disposed on the mandrel. The slip means can include teeth or the like for grippingly engaging the well bore when in a set position. A retractable packer cup is also disposed on the mandrel. The retractable packer cup is provided for sealing an annulus between the mandrel and the well bore. The retractable packer cup is slidable relative to the mandrel, and can be controlled to slide along the mandrel in order to move the slip to the set position. Also disclosed is a downhole assembly that includes a downhole tool and a setting apparatus. The setting apparatus can be used for lowering the downhole apparatus to a desired setting depth and then releasing the downhole apparatus.
