An ignition coil has a ferromagnetic core with a primary coil surrounding a first portion of the ferromagnetic core and a secondary coil surrounding the second portion of the ferromagnetic core. The secondary coil is wrapped around a bobbin. The bobbin has an interior receiving the second portion of the ferromagnetic core. A form is interposed between the secondary coil and the second portion of the ferromagnetic core. The form extends longitudinally along the second portion of the ferromagnetic core. The form is of a non-ferrous metal material.

High voltage ignition coil with improved insulating characteristics

An ignition coil has a ferromagnetic core, a primary coil surrounding a portion of the core and wrapped helically with a conductor, a winding form having partitions extending outwardly of a tubular surface of the winding form, and a secondary coil wrapped on the winding form. The partitions define a plurality of annular coil chambers including central chambers and end chambers. The end chambers have a spiral land. The secondary coil includes coil sections in each of the plurality of coil chambers. The secondary coil has coil turns in the end chambers in a spiral configuration on the spiral land and increasing progressively in diameter toward the central chambers.

Ignition coil having a winding form

An extender for connecting a high-voltage source to a spark plug has a spring adapted to electrically connect with the high-voltage source and the spark plug, a tube having said spring positioned within an interior passageway thereof, and a boot affixed over an exterior of the tube. The boot is formed of a material having a rigidity less than a rigidity of a material of the tube. The boot has a first end adapted to be connected with the high-voltage source and a second end adapted to be connected to the spark plug such that the spring is in direct electrical connection with the spark plug and the high-voltage source. The tube has one end that is spaced inwardly of the first end of the boot and an opposite end of the spaced inwardly of the second end of the boot.

High-voltage extender for connecting a spark plug to a high-voltage source

An extender for connecting a high-voltage source to a spark plug has a conductive member, a tube having an interior passageway in which the conductive member is positioned therein, and a boot affixed over an exterior of the tube. The boot is formed of a material having a rigidity less than a rigidity of a material of the tube. The boot has a first end adapted to connect with the high-voltage source and a second end adapted to be connected to the spark plug such that the conductive member is in electrical connection with the spark plug and the high-voltage source. The conductive member includes a spring that is adapted to electrically connect with the high-voltage source and the spark plug.
