A method of making an air spring comprising spreading a fabric around a core having the shape of said air spring, anchoring edges of said fabric in overlap area to the core to form a reinforcing member thereon, placing the core having the reinforcing member thereon in a mold, closing said mold, injecting an elastomeric precursor into the mold and curing to form said air spring.

Method of making an air spring

A mold comprising an elongated hollow cylinder having at least two parts that can be locked to form said cylinder, a core having an inflatable cover, said inflatable cover having means to fix the cover on said core, an upper and lower seal for said core capable of forming a tight seal with the core when the cover is inflated on the parts of the cylinder.

Self-curing elastomeric compounds in liquid suspension are sprayed onto a warmed rotating former having preferably a form developed from the radial dimensions of the inner tube to be made. The tube is cured and complete on the form by transposing one end of the sleeve to the opposite axial end of the former where the one end is seamed to the other end of the sleeve. Both the process and the tube produced by the process have advantages in manufacturing cost, in material saving, and at least equal quality performance relative to conventional inner tubes and methods of making them.

A rocker provides complex rocking motion by virtue of a volume-compressible foam section sandwiched between two substantially rigid upper and lower plate sections. The upper plate, volume-compressible foam, and lower plate sections are secured to form a single integral unit that provides complex relative motion between the upper and lower sections, which motion exhibits pitch and roll characteristics about a vertical axis through the center of gravity of the rocker when occupied.
