Examples of methods and apparatus for an accurate measurement of the anterior surface of the eye including the corneal and scleral regions are disclosed. The measurements provide a three-dimensional map of the surface which can be used for a variety of ophthalmic and optometric applications from astigmatism and keratoconus diagnostics to scleral lens fitting.

Systems and methods for mapping the ocular surface

The landing gear elevator includes a motor that is configured to connect with a trailer landing gear rod in order to raise and lower the respective tractor-trailer. The motor includes a rechargeable powering member coupled thereto in order to remotely power the motor. The motor includes a plurality of handles to provide a variety of gripping locales when in use. The motor is coupled to a gear reducer in order to exchange rpm for torque needed to raise and lower the tractor-trailer landing gear. The gear reducer includes a drive shaft that connects with a drive coupling. The drive coupling is configured to attach and lock itself to the trailer landing gear rod. A power/speed control switch provides optional output of the motor and gear reducer.

Landing gear elevator

A method to reduce ocular chromatic aberrations using a lens or other spatial structure to selectively band-pass filter transmitted light of certain wavelengths. The ocular lens overcomes the negative effects of the wavelength band pass filter lenses while maintaining its ability to reduce the negative effects of chromatic aberration. The band-pass filter is applied in one or more concentric zones and or angular regions. The lens power is adjusted in concert with the band-pass filter wavelength to minimize aberrations. Variations include the application of the band-pass filter being applied to an angular region and no filter is applied to another. Alternatively the band-pass filter is not applied to one or more concentric ring regions and is applied to one or more angular regions. The band-pass filter can be applied to the surface of the lens or spatial structure, or applied to the lens material.

Progressive chromatic aberration corrected ocular lens

A control valve having a shiftable valve plug includes a valve body having an inlet, an outlet, a flow passage extending between the inlet and the outlet, and defining a longitudinal axis, a generally cylindrical valve cage disposed within the valve body and sized to receive the valve plug, with the valve cage including at least one aperture comprising at least a portion of the flow passage, a portion of the valve cage disposed adjacent a portion of the valve body at an interface. A seal having a C-shaped cross section is provided and is disposed at the interface between the valve cage and the valve body, and a retainer is disposed adjacent the interface and positioned to secure the seal against movement along the longitudinal axis.

An intraocular lens, with equal conic surfaces, is intended to replace the crystalline lens in the posterior chamber of a patient's eye, in particular after a cataract extraction. The lens provides optical power to focus objects onto a patient's retina. In addition the lens surfaces are shaped to reduce optical aberrations at the retina and are tolerant to lens tilt and decentration within the eye. The lens is designed to have zero longitudinal ray aberrations at a specific ray height.

Method of designing equal conic intraocular lens

Improved fluid for intraocular infusion and irrigation and methods of preparation and use. The fluid is an aqueous physiologic saline solution containing from 2-15% by weight of an artificial, substantially non-antigenic oncotic agent of a colloid type, such as dextran having an average molecular weight in the range of from about 1,000 to 40,000. The solution also contains NaCl, CaCl.sub.2, dextrose and sodium bicarbonate, and is adjusted to have an osmolarity in the range of 260-400 mOsm/L and a pH in the range of from about 7 to 7.8. The solution may be used as a replacement fluid for the aqueous or vitreous humor, for the reestablishment of intraocular pressure during or after surgery, as an irrigating fluid during phacoemulsification, and generally for external eye surface rinsing during cataract surgery. The solution results in improved lens maintenance and corneal endothelial function during procedures such as vitrectomy, irrigation and aspiration of cataracts, and in phacoemulsification. Improvement is demonstrated, for example, by reduced corneal endothelial decompensation (inhibition of osmotic corneal swelling), by reduced water and sodium gain, by reduced potassium loss, and by recovery of the lens' ability to reverse electrolyte imbalances due to stress of the type typical of surgery, diabetes, ageing, and physical, chemical or biochemical trauma.

Intraocular infusion irrigation solution and method

A combined operating microscope and illumination system having a coaxial and/or par focal light source for illumination for precise instrumentation during intraocular and other operating procedures. Stereoscopic view for a surgeon and an assistant is provided with an alternatively selective light diverting system in the assistant's light system for photographic purposes. Coaxial and par focal slit illumination are achieved by a light source movable on an arc shaped tract without reflecting light through the surgeon's lens system thereby permitting additional space for a second light system to the assistant without reducing that available to the surgeon.
