LMR and LTE transceivers are disposed within a portable radio housing. The LTE transceiver is configured to utilize two separate antennas. An embedded antenna disposed within the portable radio housing is coupled to the LTE transceiver. An RF signal routing network provided in the portable radio housing is coupled to the LMR transceiver, the LTE transceiver, and an external antenna. A control system controls the RF signal routing network to selectively connect at least one the LMR transceiver or the LTE transceiver to the external antenna in accordance with at least one operating condition.

A communications device includes a first radio () configured to support wireless communications with a second radio () using a plurality of communications modes. The device includes a switch element () configured to cause the first radio to transmit when actuated. The device also includes a control element () for detecting one or more actuations of the switch element and configured to select a one of the plurality of communications modes based on a sequence of the actuations of the switch element detected by the control element during a pre-defined time interval and to cause a wireless transmission from the first radio to the second radio according to the one of the plurality of communications modes.

A bi-directional amplifier having two symmetrical and versatile impedance matching circuits with a JFET therebetween, and a method for bi-directional amplification using a JFET. Each junction of the JFET may be a drain or a source depending on the direction of amplification. Each impedance matching circuit provides a low impedance for the junction that is a source and a high impedance for the junction that is a drain. The impedance is varied by adding a first capacitor parallel to a resonating inductor and a second capacitor, which is removed or inserted in series with the load, responsive to the direction of amplification. The frequency of the signal being amplified may be different for each direction.

Device and method for bi-directional amplification with a JFET

A solid-state switch for coupling an antenna to either a transmitter or a receiver. The switch includes a pair of oppositely poled diodes and a low voltage power supply connected between the diodes for providing a forward biasing voltage to the diodes. Reverse biasing voltage to stop RF current flow through the diodes is provided by the RF signal itself by means of a voltage doubler. The same voltage doubler and a power detector reverse bias the receiver diode during overload conditions.

Self-biasing solid-state T/R switch

A circuit for reducing the effect of acoustic and electrical feedback in duplex 'hands free' telephone sets. The circuit uses relatively simple and inexpensive gain control circuits and expanders to reduce the effects of feedback by controlling the gain of a transmitted signal in inverse relationship to the strength of a the received signal.
