A multi-dimensional seismic data set with an input dimension of at least two is inputted into a backpropagation-enabled process. A prediction of the occurrence of the subsurface feature has a prediction dimension of at least 1 and is at least 1 dimension less than the input dimension.

A method for improving a backpropagation-enabled process for identifying subsurface features from seismic data involves a model that has been trained with an initial set of training data. A target data set is used to compute a set of initial inferences on the target data set that are combined with the initial training data to define updated training data. The model is trained with the updated training data. Updated inferences on the target data set are then computed. A set of further-updated training data is defined by combining at least a portion of the initial set of training data and at least a portion of the target data and associated updated inferences. The set of further-updated training data is used to train the model. Further-updated inferences on the target data set are then computed and used to identify the occurrence of a user-selected subsurface feature in the target data set.

The present invention relates to a modular prosthetic conduit implantable within a mammal and a method of surgically implanting and replacing such a conduit. Specifically, the present invention is directed toward a conduit comprising a first conduit member composed of a biocompatible alloplast and coated on its exterior surface with a porous biocompatible tissue-bonding material. The present invention is further directed toward a second conduit member composed of a biocompatible alloplast. The second conduit member contains a region or component that can be expanded radially by mechanical, hydraulic, chemical, electrical, temperature sensitive or other physical means. The second component can be easily slid into or out of the first conduit member and at temperatures approaching a mammal's body temperature, it expands to form a watertight 'docking' fit within the first conduit member. The second conduit member may contain remotely actuable valve and pump. Both the first conduit member and the second conduit member may be altered with respect to size, geometry and shape so as to affect conduits, reservoirs, sampling chambers and tissue-prosthesis interfaces. By way of altered size, geometry and shape, the modular prosthetic conduit may serve to drain bodily fluids, give access to intracorporeal organs, deliver drugs or chemicals or energies into the body. Both conduits may be impregnated with antimicrobials to lessen the risk of bacterial colonization.

A urine collection device is disclosed for use in metabolic studies in which an integrated specimen is desired. The collection device has a receptacle divided into bin sections. A removable manifold cover adapted to fit onto the receptable portion has openings which are arranged to be in registration with a separate one of the bin sections. Urine poured into the manifold will be metered through the openings into the bin sections, with a substantially equal amount entering each. Each bin contains a different chemical substance for preserving some characteristic of the urine. For example, in one bin the urine may be acidified by the substance; in another it may be alkalized; and in another it may have the pH stabilized. The device permits urine samples of a patient to be collected over a period of time, and away from a clinic or hospital without the urine characteristics to be tested changing.
