One aspect of this disclosure provides a heat exchanger that comprises a first panel half coupled to a corresponding second panel half that form a passageway having at least a first chamber adjacent an inlet end of the passageway and a second chamber and overlapping interference patterns formed in each of the first and second panel halves that extend along at least a portion of the length of the passageway and located between at least the first and second chambers.

A furnace heat exchanger assembly includes first and second heat exchanger halves. The first heat exchanger half includes a first half of an exhaust channel and an inner joint flange half at an end thereof. The second heat exchanger half includes a second half of the exhaust channel and an outer joint flange half at an end thereof having first and second capturing tabs. The first and second heat exchanger halves are coupled together such that the first and second capturing tabs substantially overlap the inner joint flange half to form a joint flange.

Systems, tools, and methods are presented that enable a plurality of turbulators to enhance heat transfer within a heat exchanger of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. The plurality of turbulators each include a ribbon member having a variable pattern formed over a length. In one instance, the variable pattern of the ribbon member includes a plurality of bends defining intervals of alternating pitch. The intervals progressively increase in dimension as the ribbon member is traversed over the length. In another embodiment, the intervals contain apertures whose area increases as the length is traversed. Other systems, tools and methods are presented.

HVAC systems and methods with improved heat exchangers

A covering apparatus for an enclosure presenting a ventilating barrier curved with respect to a barrier axis includes a segmented panel member having a plurality of louvered areas. Respective adjacent louvered areas of the plurality of louvered areas are separated by a respective bend structure. Each respective bend structure has a first section departing in a first direction from a first bend axis and a second section departing in a second direction from a second bend axis. The first and second bend axes are generally parallel with the barrier axis. The first direction is generally away from the second bend axis. The second direction is generally away from the first bend axis. The bend structure further has a third section extending from the first and second bend axes to a third bend axis. The third bend axis is non-coplanar with the first and second bend axes.

A housing for an air blower is assembled by providing first and second panels having respective first and second curved edges and a third panel having opposed first and second flanges. The first and second flanges define respective elongated first and second channels on opposite sides of the third panel. The third panel is wrapped around the first and second panels so that the first and second curved edges are received within the first and second channels, respectively, and the third panel spans between the first and second panels. Concurrently with the wrapping step, the first and second flanges are scored at selected intervals therealong, to secure the third panel to the first and second panel.
