A low voltage power distribution system that provides low voltage DC power to LED light fixtures and provides for backup or redundant power in the event of a failure of the one of the primary power supplies feeding the output channels to the respective LED light fixtures. The system allows for the automatic switching out of a failed power supply and the switching in of a spare power supply to minimize any down time for a output channel in the event of a primary power supply failure.

Lighting system with redundant power supplies

A lighting control system for use with LED light fixtures that facilitates precise current overload control to achieve transmission of a maximum amount of power across the low-voltage class II cable. The system using an active power control circuit to limit the power transmitted via the low-voltage cable. The system providing under voltage lockout, programmable soft starting, true short circuit protection, overvoltage shutdown and full dimming with the light fixtures being synchronized with no startup delay.

Active power distribution system for low-voltage lighting and other applications

A system for controlling LED light fixtures such that in the event of a loss of the lighting control signal the LED light fixtures may be controlled in a proper and predictable manner. The system includes a Digital Power Module (DPM) that receives the lighting control signal and transmits a control signal to a Fixture Control Module (FCM) connected to the LED lights. In the event the lighting control signal is not received by the DPM, it is adapted to send a backup control signal to the FCM to control the LEDs. Additionally, in the event the DPM fails to send a control signal to the FCM, the FCM is adapted to control the LEDs is a predefined manner such that the LEDs are always functional even with a loss of the input control signal.

Digital lighting control method and system

A lighting system and method includes a light module and control module having analog and digital inputs. The control module sends a lighting control output signal to the light module. A mode selector sets a mode of the control module. In a first mode, the lighting control output signal is based on one analog dimming lighting control input signal provided to an analog input. In a second mode, the lighting control output signal is based on dimming and color lighting control input signals provided to two analog inputs. In a third mode, the lighting output control signal is based on a digital lighting control input signal provided to a digital input. In a fourth mode, the control module determines a selected lighting scene based on a scene selection input signal provided to an analog input, and the lighting output signal is based on the selected lighting scene.

Backup power for distributed lighting system and method

A lighting system has first and second light sources operable to generate light having cool and warm white color temperatures, respectively. A color control provides a variable color control signal to adjust a perceived color output of the lighting system. Throughout a range of the color control signal, the controller is operable to smoothly vary the perceived color output of the lighting system between the cool white color and the warm white color. In second and thirds ranges of the color control signal, the perceived color output of the lighting system is the cool or warm white color, respectively.

Lighting control system and method

A lighting system provides for control of the perceived color of the light emitted by the light fixture. The light fixture has two light sources, a control circuit pulses the two light sources and changes relative duty cycles of the light sources to alter a perceived color output of the lighting fixture, in response to a control signal. Duty cycles of the light sources are a function of the control signal.

A lighting system provides for independent control of both the brightness of an LED light fixture and the perceived color of the light emitted by the LED light fixture. Duty cycles of the light sources are a function of the control signal and vary inversely. The LED light fixture also receives a control signal for controlling a current level provided to the LED light sources to independently control the brightness of the lighting system.

A lighting system has a lighting fixture with a white light source and a color light source, a control circuit pulses the white and color light sources and changes relative duty cycles of the light sources to alter a color output of the lighting fixture, in response to a change in a control signal from a controller. A comparator compares a reference voltage relating to an aggregate current driving the light sources to a signal voltage relating to the periodic signal from a signal generator. The comparator controls a switch that controls one of the light sources. A duty cycle of the color light source can be vary inversely to a duty cycle of the white light source.

Lighting system having a dimming color simulating an incandescent light

A method of controlling a brightness level of an LED by supplying power to an LED in series with a field effect transistor and a resistor. A first voltage is supplied from a digital potentiometer to an operational amplifier. The field effect transistor is activated based on the first voltage from the operational amplifier and a second voltage is varied across the resistor when the field effect transistor is activated. The varying of the second voltage across the resistor causes a change in the brightness level of the LED.

System and method for controlling an output illumination level of a lighting system

A lighting system has a white light source and a color light source, a control circuit pulses the white and color light sources and changes relative duty cycles of the light sources to alter a color output of the lighting fixture, in response to a change in a control signal from a controller. A comparator compares a reference voltage relating to an aggregate current driving the light sources to a signal voltage relating to the periodic signal from a signal generator. The comparator controls a switch that controls one of the light sources. A duty cycle of the color light source varies inversely to a duty cycle of the white light source.

A modular lighting system has first, second and third lighting fixtures adapted for end-to-end electrical interconnection. The lighting fixtures are mounted to a support structure in a closely abutting relationship with the longitudinal axes thereof in alignment. First and second electrical inter-connector are removably connected to the first and second lighting fixtures and the second and third lighting fixtures, respectively. The first and second electrical inter-connectors are connectable and disconnectable from a top of the lighting fixtures without dismounting the lighting fixtures, and the second lighting fixture intermediate the other two lighting fixtures being dismountable from the support structure without dismounting the other two lighting fixture by removing the first and second electrical inter-connectors from the top of the lighting fixtures.
