The present technology relates to an earphone apparatus adapted for use in audiometry examinations. The earphone apparatus comprises a housing and a receiver having an acoustic output adapted to connect with an audio signal source. The earphone apparatus can also include a circuit board with an electrical equalization network connected to the receiver. A coupling can be connected to the acoustic output of the receiver. A sound tube can be connected to the acoustic output and extends out from the housing to an ear piece. The earphone also includes a resonance cancellation assembly comprising a damping chamber and a tubing section acoustically connecting the damping chamber to the coupling. The damping chamber can provide an acoustic compliance to the sound delivered by the receiver. The earphone can also comprise an electrical connector with a protector that is adapted to connect with a female connector delivering electrical power.

Audiometry earphone insert

An insert earphone is provided in which a piece of foam material is used to resiliently mount a receiver within a chamber portion of a one-piece plastic housing member. The receiver has an output port extending through a central aperture of the piece of foam material and into one end of a passage defined by a tubular portion of the housing member with a damper being disposed in the other end of the passage. The tubular portion is inserted into an ear tip or other coupling device and has an enlarged diameter end section to achieve a locking action. Two such insert earphones may be coupled through cables to a junction unit and filters are provided for enhancing the drive of the earphones at high frequencies, the filters being preferably mounted in the junction unit.

High fidelity insert earphones and methods of making same

An improved insert earphone for audiometric testing is provided, having a housing, a receiver located within the housing, a flexible eartip located externally to the housing, and a tube nipple acoustically coupled between the receiver and the flexible eartip. The flexible eartip has a flexible tube portion that is coupled to an output end of the tube nipple, which may be rigid. The housing and tube nipple are configured and arranged such that the angle between a longitudinal axis of the tube nipple and the vertical axis is obtuse, minimizing the stress on the ear canal when the flexible eartip is inserted therein. An acoustic damper may be located at or near the input end of the tube nipple to prevent ear wax from clogging the damper and minimize the need for damper replacement.

Insert earphone assembly for audiometric testing and method for making same

An incinerator pre-fill chamber for installation on an incinerator for burning combustible material which allows the operator to continuously re-fill the container of the incinerator with new combustible material while the contents within the container is burning. The incinerator pre-fill chamber includes an elongated case having a first opening aligned in sealing relationship with a second opening disposed in the lid of the incinerator such that when said pre-fill chamber is mounted on the incinerator lid the combustible material can pass from said pre-fill chamber through said first and second openings. The pre-fill chamber further includes a plunger with a platen, at least one side door that opens for loading the material to be burned into the pre-fill chamber, and a trap door that opens when the plunger is actuated thereby permitting the material to pass through the first opening of the pre-fill chamber.

Incinerator pre-fill chamber

A carrier engagable with a hitch receiver, including a hitch receiver; an elongate frame; a tank receiving seat connected to the frame; a coupler shaft extending horizontally from the frame; and a receiver insert assembly comprising a receiver insert arranged for insertion into a hitch receiver and a support arm that extends substantially horizontally from the receiver insert for rotatably receiving the coupler shaft such that the frame is rotatable from a first upright position for receiving the tank to a second substantially horizontal position for supporting and transporting the tank.

Container transport apparatus and method of use

An improved vehicle hose retraction system is disclosed having a dual roller configuration which permits the hose to follow a smooth S-shaped path during extension and retraction, thereby maximizing the hose storage capacity of the system and avoiding kinds and abrasion to the hose. The axis of each roller is oriented so as to be generally perpendicular to the plane of the housing of the retraction system to minimize hose friction and wear. The housing is also provided with an angled hood which presents the free end of the hose in a position that facilitates connection. In addition, a locking mechanism is disclosed which prevents rotation of its members under vibrational conditions.

Retraction system

A high fidelity hearing aid amplifier is operable at a very low battery voltage and includes a single integrated circuit chip which provides a variable gain amplifier and gain control circuitry operative at low signal levels to enhance gain at higher frequencies relative to gain at lower frequencies, such circuitry including a logarithmic rectifier arrangement and a peak detector in a compression ratio control circuit. Operation at a low battery voltage is enhanced through a compression ratio control circuit which provides a level shift between an AC output of the logarithmic rectifier arrangement and the peak detector. Current mirrors are provided to obtained balanced and stable operation, and an arrangement is provided for manual control by a user to obtain an optimum response characteristic.

High fidelity hearing aid amplifier

A current controlled variable attenuator circuit using a current controlled resistor is disclosed. In paticular, the current controlled resistor and attenuator are particularly suited for use in hearing aids due to the resistor's and attenuator's easy implementation in bipolar integrated circuits. The current controlled resistor and attenuator also has wide application to other circuitry requiring controlled variable resistance elements having a broader linear response than previously available. The current controlled resistor consists of transistors having inherent non-linear characteristics which can be linearized by adding appropriate compensation circuitry.

Variable attenuator circuit

A system for detecting and transmitting body electrical signals in the presence of ambient electrical interference that uses a transmiter circuit including an amplifier coupled to and in close proximity to two or more body electrodes, a light pulse generator that receives its input from that amplifier and provides a pulse-duration-modulated series of light pulses, and a remote receiver including a transducer which demodulates the transmitted light pulses into electrical pulses of corresponding duration and frequency and a demodulator which accepts those electrical pulses and produces an amplified replica of the original signal developed between the body electrodes, thereby effectively providing complete electrical isolation of the electrode amplifier from the remaining bioelectrical signal analysis equipment. A valuable additional feature of the invention is a complete electrostatic shield around the amplifier-transmitter as well as the electode leads, so that the small amount of residual capacitive coupling to the amplifier circuit itself is effectively shunted to the same average (body) potential as that of the electrodes.

Electrode isolation amplifier

Response-modifying acoustic couplers are provided for use between an output port of a hearing aid unit and an earmold at the entrance to the ear of a wearer, including a passage and a chamber which respectively provide a high acoustic inertance and a high acoustic compliance to cooperate with other acoustic elements and to form an acoustic network producing a predetermined frequency response characteristic.

Response-modifying acoustic couplers for hearing aids

A patch-like web of material adapted to be placed over skin tumors for aiding a physician in making an optimum size and shape incision when surgically removing the tumor. The web of material is provided with an opening having a predetermined size which correlates with the size of the tumor. Also included are delineation provisions for providing a pattern which prescribes the optimum size and shape for the particular incision.
