A steering wheel assembly for use with a ride-on vehicle which has a frame with at least two wheels. The steering wheel assembly comprises a steering rod operatively coupled to the frame of the ride-on vehicle. The steering rod includes a chuck secured to the steering rod. The chuck includes a body extending between a base and an upper end. The steering wheel assembly further comprises a steering wheel with a sleeve adapted to be coupled to the chuck in a tool-less manner such that the steering wheel is configured to be engaged by a rider for moving the steering wheel and thereby steering the ride-on vehicle.

A child vehicle includes a power mechanism having a motor, at least one wheel selectively operatively coupled to the motor, and a propulsion switch coupled to the power mechanism and having a first position and a second position. The first position is from a user-initiated force. The propulsion switch automatically moves to the second position upon disengagement of the force. In the first position, the child vehicle is in the first operational mode and the wheel is being driven by the motor. In the second position, the child vehicle is in the second operational mode and the wheel is allowed to rotate substantially free from drag or resistance due to the motor. A method is also disclosed.

In one aspect, a child vehicle is provided comprising a motor, a wheel selectively operatively coupled to the motor for driving the child vehicle under the power of the motor, and a motor drive selector mechanism. The motor drive selector mechanism allows the child vehicle to be operated in a first operational mode wherein the wheel is driven by the motor and a second operational mode wherein the wheel is substantially free from drag or resistance due to the motor. A method of operating the child vehicle is also provided.

A wheel converting mechanism for a child vehicle having a wheel includes an elongate body having a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion, wherein the third portion of the elongate body is configured to be coupled to the wheel of the child vehicle. The first portion and second portion are coupled together through a pivot joint that allows the second portion to pivot relative to the first portion about a pivot axis defined by the pivot joint. Additionally, the second portion and the third portion are coupled together through a swivel joint that allows the third portion to rotate relative to the second portion about a swivel axis defined by the swivel joint. A method of moving a wheel of a child vehicle is also disclosed.

A child vehicle includes a front frame having a handlebar and at least one front wheel, and a rear frame movably coupled thereto and having at least one rear wheel. At least one graphical interface is coupled to the vehicle and includes a placard having a frame secured to the vehicle and a working surface disposed generally within the frame. The working surface is configured to be marked thereon by the child using a marking utensil so as to create an artistic expression for customizing the vehicle. A tool-less coupling between the front and rear frames and an associated method of a tool-less assembly of a child vehicle are also disclosed.

A child vehicle includes a front portion having a front wheel and a first handlebar configured to steer the vehicle, and a rear portion coupled to the front portion and having a rear wheel. The front portion is capable of rotating relative to the rear portion about a first pivot axis. A pivot member is coupled to the vehicle and rotatable about a second pivot axis between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the pivot member operates as a seat for supporting a rider thereon to define a ride-on configuration. In the second position, the pivot member operates as a second handlebar to define a scooter configuration. The second handlebar is also configured to steer the vehicle when in the scooter configuration. The vehicle may include a graphical interface for decorating or otherwise marking the vehicle in a manner preferred by the child.

Convertible child vehicle

A movable vehicle includes a first frame member, a second frame member, and a biasing mechanism. The first frame member includes a front wheel and a handlebar configured to turn the front wheel in various directions. The second frame member has at least one rear wheel and is coupled to the first frame member such that the first frame member can rotate with respect to the second frame member. The biasing mechanism is operatively coupled to the first and second frame members and biases the front wheel in a preferred direction, such as a straight direction. The biasing mechanism may include a resilient gasket and a cavity having at least partially corresponding polygonal cross sections.

Position-adjustable vehicle

A pivot mechanism includes a base member configured to be coupled to a first element and a generally cylindrical rotating member configured to be coupled to a second element. An elongate pin extends through the base member and rotating member and defines a pivot axis. The rotating member is capable of rotating relative to the base member about the pivot axis. The elongate pin is movable in a direction generally parallel to the pivot axis between a secured position and a release position. In the secured position, the rotating member is prevented from rotating relative to the base member, and in the release position, the rotating member is permitted to rotate relative to the base member. The pivot mechanism may be incorporated into a scooter or a tricycle to provide different configurations thereof.

A pedal includes a pedal body configured for engagement with a person and defining a first major side and a second major side of the pedal. A first plate member engages the first major side and has a first outer surface. Similarly, a second plate member engages the second major side and has a second outer surface. At least one of the first or second outer surfaces includes a graphic design feature. The first and second plate members may be coupled to each other through openings in the pedal body. The graphic design feature may be carried on a graphic design element which is coupled to the first and/or second outer surface.

A tool-less coupling of a child vehicle having a front frame and a rear frame includes a post coupled to one of the front or rear frames; a locking insert having at least one flexible table coupled to the post, and a head tube coupled to the other of the front or rear frame, wherein an opening in a first end of the head tube is sized to cause inward flexing of the flexible tab as the post is inserted through the head tube, and the flexible tab flexes back outwardly after passing through the opening in the head tube so that a portion of the flexible tab is adjacent an end surface of the head tube such that the flexible tab cannot move back through the opening. Accordingly, the removal of the post from the head tube is prohibited and the front and rear frames are coupled together. A method for a tool-less assembly of a child vehicle is also disclosed.
