A display for use in an off-highway truck includes a position element providing an indication to an operator of the off-highway truck to align the off-highway truck with an overhead trolley line as well as a pantograph element providing an indication to the operator to raise or lower a pantograph associated with the off-highway truck to respectively make or break contact with the overhead trolley line. In an optional aspect, an alarm indicator may be provided for signaling an alarm condition to the operator of the off-highway truck.

An electrical system architecture for a mobile, electric hybrid machine includes a first bus configured to receive electric power at a first, selectively adjustable voltage from an electrical power source. A second bus is configured to receive electric power at a second voltage that is lower than the first voltage. A controller is configured to determine a desired magnitude of the second voltage for the second bus, produce a signal indicative of a magnitude of the first, selectively adjustable voltage that is a multiple of the desired magnitude of the second voltage, and adjust the magnitude of the first voltage in the first bus to the multiple of the desired magnitude of the second voltage. A fixed-ratio power converter is configured to convert the power at the first voltage in the first bus to the power at the second voltage in the second bus.

A ground fault protection system may include a controller that is configured to receive signals representing a ground fault detection voltage and a DC link voltage of the machine. Based on the ground fault detection voltage and the DC link voltage, the controller may determine a ground fault detection percentage value, and a worst case component insulation voltage. The controller may compare an absolute value of the worst case component insulation voltage with a rated insulation voltage of a component of the machine. When the absolute value of the worst case component insulation voltage is higher than the rated insulation voltage, the controller may determine a new DC link voltage based on the rated insulation voltage and the ground fault detection percentage value, and may operate the machine by using the new DC link voltage.

Ground fault protection systems and methods

A drive system for a machine having an engine, a generator, a trolley drive arrangement, a motor, wheels and auxiliary devices is provided. The drive system includes an inverter circuit and an auxiliary driver both being operatively connected to the trolley drive arrangement. The inverter circuit may be coupled to each of the generator and the motor. The auxiliary driver may be coupled to each of the generator and the auxiliary devices. The inverter circuit and the auxiliary driver may be configured to automatically communicate power from the trolley drive arrangement and any power from the auxiliary devices to the motor in a trolley propel mode, and automatically communicate power from the motor to the engine, the trolley drive arrangement, and optionally to a hybrid system if applicable, in a dynamic braking mode, while attached to trolley lines so as to eliminate fuel consumption while attached to the trolley lines.
