The disclosed technology relates to low-profile humidifiers for humidifying breathing gases from a medical ventilator. In an example, the low-profile humidifier includes a humidifier body that includes a liquid port; a pump in fluid communication with the liquid port; a valve in fluid communication with the pump; a nozzle in fluid communication with the valve; a controller that controls the valve and the pump. The low-profile humidifier also includes a removable flow channel that is removable from the humidifier body. The removable flow channel includes a gas inlet sized for connection to a conduit from a medical ventilator; a gas outlet; a conduit between the gas inlet and the gas outlet; a heated surface within the conduit to vaporize liquid droplets injected by the nozzle; and a through hole to receive the nozzle into the conduit.

This disclosure describes systems and methods for humidifying ventilator delivered breathing gases. These systems and methods utilize a hollow cone atomizer (e.g., a pressure swirl atomizer) and/or a heating element associated with a heating circuit and/or a heating tube. In some aspect, the systems and methods utilize received flow, temperature, and/or humidity information to determine an amount of water to add to breathing gases to reach a desired humidity of the breathing gases delivered to the patient. In further aspects, the humidification system can serve as a nebulization system for delivering nebulized medicine.

Systems and methods for ventilation humidification

A humidifier, for a ventilation system, that includes an atomizer configured to deliver water droplets into a flow of breathing gases and a heating element configured to vaporize the water droplets emitted from the atomizer. The humidifier may be configured to set a target inhalation gas temperature based on internal temperature of a patient. Further, based on inspiratory flow and humidity data about breathing gases upstream of the atomizer of the humidifier, the humidifier may calculate and deliver an amount of water in one or more bursts of atomized water. Based on the target inhalation gas temperature, the humidifier may control a temperature of the heating element.

Systems and methods for active humidification in ventilatory support

The technology relates to methods and systems for recognition of conditions from ventilation data. The methods may include acquiring ventilation data for ventilation of a patient during a time period; generating an image based on the acquired ventilation data; providing, as input into a trained machine learning model, the generated image, wherein the trained machine learning model was trained based on images having a same type as the generated image; and based on output from the trained machine learning model, generating a predicted condition of the patient. The image may be generated by storing ventilatory data as pixel channel values to generate a human-indecipherable image.

The present disclosure relates generally to medical devices and, more particularly, to a gas mixing system for a medical ventilator. A gas mixer is provided to adjust the oxygen concentration of environmental air for a blower-based ventilator, by adjusting the mix of air upstream of the ventilator and providing the mixed air to the ventilator's environmental air inlet.

An example system includes an oxygen valve configured to be coupled to an oxygen source, an oxygen plenum coupled to the valve, and a mixing valve. The mixing valve includes an oxygen inlet coupled to the oxygen plenum, an ambient-air inlet, and an outlet configured to be attached to an inlet of a blower of a ventilator. The system also includes a pressure sensor, coupled to the oxygen plenum, and a control device communicatively coupled to the pressure sensor and the oxygen valve. The control device receives a differential pressure, measured by the pressure sensor, and based on the measured differential pressure, generates a control signal to control the oxygen valve to maintain a target pressure of gas within the oxygen plenum.

The fluid conduit is adapted to communicate the pressurized hydraulic fluid from the input head to the output head. The output head is adapted to convert the hydraulic fluid pressure into torque for applying to a fastener. The hydraulic wrench extension may comprise an articulating linkage adapted to house the fluid conduit and provide a configurable orientation of the wrench extension for traversing obstacles and accessing difficult-to-reach fasteners.

A system for producing metal particles using a discrete particle electrolyzer cathode, a discrete particle electrolyzer cathode, and methods for manufacturing the cathode. The cathode has a plurality of active zones on a surface thereof at least partially immersed in a reaction solution. The active zones are spaced from one another by between about 0.1 mm and about 10 mm, and each has a surface area no less than about 0.02 square mm. The cathode is spaced from an anode also at least partially immersed in the reaction solution. A voltage potential is applied between the anode and cathode. Metal particles form on the active zones of the cathode. The particles may be dislodged from the cathode after they have achieved a desired size. The geometry and composition of the active zones are specified to promote the growth of high quality particles suitable for use in metal/air fuel cells. Cathodes may be formed from bundled wire, machined metal, chemical etching, or chemical vapor deposition techniques.

Discrete particle electrolyzer cathode and method of making same

Improved fuel cell systems comprise a fuel delivery system having a fluidization apparatus and a fluidization pump for creating an electrolyte flow suitable for fluidizing at least a portion of the fuel particles located within the fluidization apparatus. Due to the presence of the fluidization pump and the fuel delivery pump, the degree of fluidization of the fuel particles can be controlled independently of the overall electrolyte flow rate provided to the cell stacks. In other words, the mass flow rate of fuel particles through the fuel cell can be varied independently from the total flow rate through the fuel cell system. The fluidization of fuel particles can facilitate suitable mixing of fuel particles and electrolyte and can prevent fuel particle agglomeration, which can clog the fuel cell piping system. In some embodiments, a splitter element can be positioned within the container to divide the fuel and electrolyte flow exiting the container into multiple flows, which prevents the blockage of one pathway from completely starving the cell stacks of fuel and electrolyte.

Methods and devices for controlling flow and particle fluidization in a fuel cell

A method of producing metal particles through electrolysis. A cathode having a plurality of active zones on a surface thereof is at least partially immersed in a reaction solution. The cathode is spaced from an anode also at least partially immersed in the reaction solution. A voltage potential is applied between the anode and cathode. Metal particles form on the active zones of the cathode. In order to promote the formation of good quality particles, a turbulent flow of the solution is maintained past one or more the active zones, and the current density in the active zones is maintained greater than about 5 kA/m. The particles may be dislodged from the cathode after they have achieved a desired size.

A ventilatory system which may be operated in an invasive and a non-invasive mode is provided utilizing a graphical user interface for presenting only those controlled parameters utilized for that specific mode of operation. Volume and pressure ventilatory support parameters are included for invasive ventilation and non-invasive ventilation control parameters are provided for non-invasive ventilatory assistance. The graphical user interface enables an operator to select the desired mode of operation wherein only those parameters related to that specific mode of operation are presented. Furthermore, a blower is provided for providing an air source to the ventilator enabling the ventilator to be self sufficient.
