A housing for an electrical cable splice for handling two or more cables in end-to-end and/or side-by-side arrangement. First and second shells with central sections and opposed end sections, with one shell sliding over the other to form a main compartment for the splices and a sealant or encapsulating material. The end sections of one shell are provided with channels for receiving cables, with a groove in the wall of each channel. The other shell includes means sliding in the channels for defining entrance passages for the cable, and projecting tabs which slide in the grooves and close the entrance passages. The projecting tabs are selectively broken away as determined by the number and location of cables, to provide open entrance passages.

Cable splice housing

A ground clamp for making an electrical connection between a wire and a metal pipe. A metal saddle having a central plate, opposed down turned sides defining a pipe engaging channel, and opposed up turned ends with openings for receiving a wire, with the ends having fingers projecting toward each other defining a band space between the fingers and the plate, with a ground wire passing through the band space and the openings and with a pipe band passing through the space between the fingers and the wire, with means for drawing the ends of the band together to clamp the wire in the saddle and clamp the wire and saddle onto the pipe.

Ground clamp

A connector for making an electrical connection with the metal shield of an electrical cable having a plurality of insulated conductors, an inner metal shield over the conductors, and an outer insulated sheath over the shield. A unitary connector of resilient metal with a central section and opposed outer sections for sliding onto the end of a cable, with the central section between the conductors and shield and with the outer sections overlying the sheath. A plurality of teeth on a tongue of the central section for engaging the shield, and lanced or sheared tips on the outer sections for engaging the sheath.

Spring loaded shield bond connector

A flexible clamp for hose, cable and the like in the form of a strip with opposite ends joined to produce a band. A portion of the strip is formed into parallel sections with at least one section having a corrugated shape and with another section having a variable length, non-corrugated, and conforming to the shape of the band, with this section having a plurality of overlapping tongues providing a substantially continuous portion of the band. In use, the corrugated section provides flexibility for the clamp permitting change of clamp circumference with temperature cycling and the like.

Flexible clamp for hose, cable and the like

An enclosure for an electric cable splice suitable for burial in the ground. An enclosure which provides moisture-proofing and mechanical protection for the splice. A pair of shells which slide together to form a box-like enclosure having a main compartment, an intermediate compartment, and an entrance passage. A pair of cables is positioned in the entrance passage with the cables passing through the intermediate compartment into the main compartment where the splices of pairs of conductors are located. Each of the shells has a quantity of sealant in the main section so that when the two sections are brought together with the cable splice there between, the splice components are completely surrounded by the sealant in the main compartment, and sealant is forced into the intermediate compartment around the cables.

Service wire splice enclosure

A cylindrical case for enclosing a cable splice is disclosed which includes a longitudinally split tubular closure member, two end members positionable at either end of the closure member, a gasket of resilient material extending the length of the longitudinal split in the closure member and about the two end member, and a channel member cooperating with upstanding ridges on the closure member at the longitudinal split to secure closure of the case. The gasket includes an elongate, resilient sealing element with an elongate rigid bar extending longitudinally therethrough. The bar includes formed ends which define a slot to receive a fastening element and a ground contact extending from the end of the gasket. Resilient sealing rods also extend laterally from the gasket to define sealing elements about the two end members of the splice case. The gasket is tapered as are the channel members and mechanism is provided on the closure member and on the channel members to enable a forcing of the closure members into interference fit on the case.

Splice case with gasket and closure mechanism therefor

A formed member is disclosed which has a plurality of deformable jaws capable of being associated with the ends of small service wires to clamp the insulation and conductive shield. The clamping connector thus forms an electrical coupling with the shield and at the same time locates the ends of the service wires relative to one another. An attachment portion enables the shield to be grounded and the clamped service wires to be positioned relative to a splice enclosure or other fixture. The deformable jaws interlock when deformed to hold a service wire such that purchase is insured on the insulation and conductive shield.

Clamping connector

A kit of parts for forming an enclosure for a cable splice that rigidly fixes two or more spliced cables and moisture proofs the splice and exposed cable ends. The kit includes a vial partially filled with a body of sealant and a plug which receives the cable ends and then may be positioned in the vial and partially immersed in the body of sealant. By immersing the plug in the body of sealant, the sealant is forced upwardly and around the cable ends to fully enclose the cable splice and the cable ends in the sealant. Arms associated with the plug act to retain the plug on the vial.

Plug and kit of parts including same for use in forming a moisture-proof

An insert for protecting electrical conductors in a cable during and after installation of a shield connector. The insert includes a flexible piece of plastic broadly oval in plan which may be easily inserted underneath the outer cover and shield of a cable to protect the electrical conductors contained within the cable.

Method for installing a shield connector in a cable

There is disclosed herein an enclosure for a cable splice that rigidly fixes two or more spliced cables and moisture proofs the splice and exposed cable ends. A pair of mating plug members grasp the cable ends and are then partially immersed in a body of sealant contained in a vial. The plug members include a cap portion which engages the vial and keeps the plug firmly in place. The cap portion may include extended arms which engage threads provided on the vial before the plug members fully close the vial. These arms give mechanical leverage for drawing the plug members into a fully closed position in the vial.
