A supplement including a blend of turmeric, quercetin and rosemary, or holy basil, wasabi, and broccoli seed extract which are present in a balanced and predetermined ratio, and which stimulate the Antioxidant Response Element (ARE), Quinone Reductase, and/or induce related gene expression, for example, heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX-1) expression. The blend of ingredients can be formed as or in a dietary supplement adapted for administration to a subject. The dietary supplement can be formulated so that the turmeric, quercetin and rosemary are present in a predetermined ratio of 1:3:5, or holy basil, wasabi, and broccoli seed extract in a predetermined ratio of 1:1:0.2. Additional ingredients can be included in the supplement. The supplement can synergistically affect natural antioxidant response pathways within cells of a subject to whom the supplement is administered. A related method of use is also provided.

Antioxidant dietary supplement and related method

A composition including a unique combination of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and optionally vitamins, minerals and specialty ingredients. The composition can include a fruit ingredient, a vegetable ingredient and an herbal ingredient, wherein the fruit ingredient is at least one of pomegranate and citrus bioflavonoids, wherein the vegetable ingredient, is at least one of asparagus, lutein, lycopene and watercress, and wherein the herbal ingredient is at least one of basil, oregano and rosemary. The composition can be administered to subjects to correct a dietary deficiency of phytochemicals and other nutrients, improve plasma concentrations of antioxidant nutrients, and increase the activity of genetic mechanisms for DNA repair and stability.

Dietary supplement and related method

A composition for modulating cytokines to regulate an inflammatory or immunomodulatory response. The composition can include at least one of rosehips, blueberry, blackberry, elderberry, cranberry, rosemary, clove, feverfew, nettle root, artichoke, reishi mushroom, olive extract, green tea extract, grape seed extract, resveratrol,extract,, ipriflavone, tocotrienols, evening primrose oil, INM-176, borage oil, krill oil, at least one type of xanthophyll (e.g., astaxanthin), green coffee extract and ferulic acid. Specifically, a composition of the invention can include: rosehips and at least one of blackberry, blueberry, elderberry, and optionally krill oil; or rosehips, resveratrol and at least one ofand astaxanthin. Based on the cytokine modulation and cytokine response inhibition of the composition, it can be used to regulate an immunomodulatory and/or inflammatory response, and subsequently treat diseases and/or abnormal conditions associated with inflammatory response, for example, cardiovascular conditions, arthritis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease.

A process for producing a kakadu plum powder having an increased amount of naturally occurring ascorbic acid and high ORAC value. The process of preparing the extract includes the following: disintegrating kakadu plum fruit; treating the disintegrated kakadu plum material with enzymes to at least partially digest the material; juicing the kakadu plum material and drying the juice to produce a powder. In a preferred embodiment, the kakadu plum juice is further clarified with ultrafiltration and concentrated by performing reverse osmosis on the kakadu plum juice. The resultant kakadu plum powder has a natural ascorbic acid content of at least about 15% and a naturally occurring Oxygen Reduction Absorption Capacity value of at least 1500.

Method of preparing kakadu plum powder

A method of extracting non-polar isothiocyanates from a plant includes providing fresh or dehydrated plant material that contains at least one glucosinolate that will form a corresponding non-polar isothiocyanate, and endogenous myrosinase enzyme. Water is added to the plant material and milled, and oil is added thereafter to the water and plant mixture. This mixture is then homogenized after which the oil phase is separated from water phase and solids, such that the non-polar isothiocyanate(s) partition into the oil phase. A stable composition made according to the method includes at least one non-polar isothiocyanate and a vegetable oil. A dietary supplement may be formulated from the stable composition.

Extraction of non-polar isothiocyanates from plants

A composition includes at least one processed dehydrated brassica vegetable containing glucosinolates and endogenous myrosinase enzyme, wherein the endogenous myrosinase enzyme converts the glucosinolates into isothiocyanates when the composition is ingested. A method of making the composition is also provided.

Brassica vegetable composition and method for manufacture of same

A brassica vegetable tablet contains at least 50 .mu.g of sulforaphane and a maximum of 50 .mu.g of sulforaphane-nitrile. A process for producing a brassica vegetable product includes inactivating endogenous myrosinase enzyme in a brassica vegetable and thereafter blending the vegetable with exogenous myrosinase enzyme. The preferred process may include steam blanching as the method of inactivating the endogenous myrosinase enzyme. The preferred process may also include horseradish root as the source of exogenous myrosinase enzyme.

Brassica vegetable supplement and process for manufacture

A brassica vegetable tablet contains at least 50 ug of sulforaphane and a maximum of 50 ug of sulforaphane-nitrile. A process for producing a brassica vegetable product includes inactivating endogenous myrosinase enzyme in a brassica vegetable and thereafter blending the vegetable with exogenous myrosinase enzyme. A nutritional fiber composition which comprises approximately 30 to 48.5% fiber, based on the weight of the entire composition, derived from the fruit and vegetable groups, approximately 30 to 48.5% fiber derived from the cereal group and approximately 3 to 40% fiber from sources other then the fruit, vegetable and cereal groups, wherein at least 10% of the total dietary fiber in the entire composition is soluble dietary fiber.
